Fox & Grapes — Restaurant in West Devon

We are staying in Wooladon estate for a wedding and wanted to go out the night before for dinner, we looked at Google reviews for local restaurants and came across the Fox and grapes, we decided on this one because of the high score. We had a lovely walk to the pub about 2 miles. When we arrived found it small and charming, the bar lady we later found out the owner Linda welcomed us and gave us a menu and told us where the special board was. Once we decided on food we went to the bar and Linda set our expectations by telling us that they had 14 people before us just walked in (no booking) for food so there will be a delay on food , we said we were in no rush. Linda told us we could sit outside, the garden was large and lovely the pub is a lot bigger than you think. The food we had was amazing and price was very good , for 4 meals 3 rounds of 4 beers total cost £102. Having recently moved back to the area, we popped in to buy some tickets for their upcoming music event and had a bite to eat. When I tell you it's a proper pub, it's a proper pub. No fancy nonsense, it was clean, busy, friendly, good selection of tap and spirits, and the food... Well, the portions were more than generous, proper chips, the fellas LOVED their burgers and the prices didn't leave you crying at the end of a good night. Waitress was busy but a credit to the pub and the landlord/lady were top notch...

We enjoyed an evening mean at The Fox and Grapes having spent the day walking on Dartmoor. The service couldn't have been better, it was a busy evening but staff bent over backwards to accommodate us, despite us not having booked.
