We stayed at The Tors Inn with our 2 Dogs for 7 nights celebrating both of our 60th Birthdays and our 40th Wedding Anniversary. The Tors Inn is a great base to explore Dartmoor and the surrounding area of Devon. We had a double room with a very comfortable King Size bed. The room was very tastefully decorated with En-suite shower and toilet. The large screen smart TV allowed us to use our own accounts to continue watching our box sets for the small amount of time that we spent in the room. As an ex-chef (many years ago) I still love cooking, so can be very critical if food is not up to scratch when I am paying for it. The food at the Tors is good pub grub. – Simple, adequate choice, and all cooked extremely well. The Burgers served from the shed are delicious. The included Full English and alternatives were also very good. The Landlord ‘Dicky’ has lived in Devon Villages from birth, and his tips for where to go and what to do were spot on. – The Tors is well used by keen walkers for food and refreshments. It is on the edge of the moor and several walks can be started from the Tors if staying here. If you want to venture elsewhere for a meal, Dickie’s local knowledge and recommendations were again spot on. It goes without saying that the Tors Inn is very dog and owner friendly. Thank you, Dicky, Erin, Kelly, Chefs and everyone else at The Tors for making our week on The Moor...

We strolled in, on a crispy cold day, spent walking a circular loop up on the nearby moors, with an impromptu dip in the icy waters to enliven (and then numb) the senses.

Walking into the pub, the atmosphere was immediate and welcoming. It was full. Sunday Lunch on this fresh Sunday had obviously invited punters near and far, however, we headed straight to the bar, warmed by the open log fire, where the kind land lady and her bar staff informed us that there were no tables available at present, however, if we liked, we could sit at the bar.

A nearby customer, said he had squeezed onto a long table with his large group of friends/ family, thereby freeing a table of two (our numbers) for us. A great bit of luck as the food looked and smelt great!

We sat ourselves down, ordered one beef roast and one pork roast, which came in good time and feasted. What a delight. The portions were hearty. The food delicious. Local beef and local pork proving a fitting choice for this rustic and wholesome pub. Proper!

The service was brilliant. Attentive and considered. There is a warmth and pleasantness embodied, which is natural and polite.

I would thoroughly recommend coming here for a welcome rest-bite, Sunday lunch and drink by the fire.

We will surely visit in the...

Belstone is a lovely village nestled at the edge of the moor with spectacular views and walks for dogs everywhere. The Tors inn is a perfect acompliment to its surroundings.

The pub has wheelchair access and information as you walk in about local events and activities. Dogs are very welcome and the resident Spaniel is lovely so its definitely a walkers pub 😁

The food is very good and there is a few gluten-free options even fish and chips which is very good and definitely worth a try. Potions are just right and the fire at the end of the pub just makes it more warming.

There is a good range of local drinks, beers and ciders and prices of food and drinks are quite reasonable as the quality is good.

We had a very warm reception and although not a massive pub was roomy and decorative.

You can stay there as they have guest rooms, but I didn't get to see these. However they are available if your touring the area and its a great location to have a base from.

Well worth a visit for food or drink either before or just after a good bracing walk on the moors.

Enjoy a stop at...

A really lovely local pub. Very well located right on the edge of the moors, should you fancy a walk- the views are beautiful. They seem to have a garden area and outdoor bar/grill that must be lovely to visit in the summer. We came in winter, stopping for lunch before exploring the moors. We had been recommended this spot by locals. The man behind the bar was very sweet and attentive. We got potted crab with paprika butter which we both loved followed by classic pub mains which we were really happy with. Very good fish and chips, ham and burgers. The wine list included Australian, Italian, French, Chilean and American wine and the beer was great. Nice atmosphere, cosy, good food. It was exactly what we were looking for.

The village is beautiful. The pub has charm and character that is lacking from many pubs nowadays (and I'm saying that as someone who is 36 not 96). It's dog friendly, has a fire blazing and is the perfect spot to start or finish a walk up into dartmoor. Large car park as you enter the village and you just walk the 2 or 3 minutes to the Tors Inn. The presentation of the roast was as basic as it looks in the photos, but the ingredients must be good quality as it tasted great. Roast was about £9.50 and a lot of other main meals were in the 10-12 region. Based on its location its worth the money. Staff were really friendly. Especially the girl/woman behind the bar.
