Called in on the 13.08.22 for the first time to grab some tea after having a busy day out in nearby Southport however being massively disappointed is truelly a understatement by receiving cold, poor and overpriced food. Whilst there were other customers it was never heavily busy and as such I don't understand why it took over an hour for our food to be cooked when looking at what arrived on our plate would of probably took 20mins max. I was the only one from our party which ordered a starter which was pan fried scallops and king prawns costing near enough £10. On arrival it was evident the 4no of prawn situated on the plate were in fact not king prawns whatsoever and just your standard size prawn and the 3no scallops tasted days old, overall poor quality, cold and way overpriced ! Next the kids meals came, my daughters lasagne was abit overcooked but other than that no issues really however my lad ordered the pork sausages which came out cremated, with that whoever dished the plate strategically placed the worst side of the sausage face down. We politely asked to have another batch sent out which whilst weren't as bad, were still burnt, again very disappointed. I ordered the 10z Sirloin steak which when arrived I was actually disgusted of what came on the plate and how much I had paid for such a poor quality meal. I asked for medium rare Sirloin and what turned up was well done pan frying steak which is an insult, the onion rings were of poorly quality, the sauce was gloopy. I wouldn't of even given this to my dog !!! My partner ordered a lasagne and whilst she ate it with no issues it was only whilst she was finishing off identified a small hair within her dish, this was the final straw for us I'm afraid! To summarise, our experience yesterday of the sandpiper was very very poor which concluded of poor food quality with ridiculous prices and with this, unfortunately I would never return back here !

I’m really baffled by the reviews, feel like we were in a different pub. Our experience was really underwhelming . The Sandpiper looks the part but the food was very under par. My fries were cold and overcooked so there was basically no potato inside of them. My other half had the chunky chips which were hot but once again really overcooked and dry. I had the chicken burger which was sloppy and the breadcrumb was overcooked, brown and hard around the edges. Service was also very slow, waited ages for drinks. Told the waitress my fries were horrible and she offered to replace them and I said I didn’t fancy more fries now because I was put off. Wasn’t offered any discount off bill. Food was like it was frozen and reheated, definitely not what I expect for a £17.50 chicken burger and chips. Been here in the past and always have good reviews, this experience puts me off returning.

A sunny Sunday afternoon and so decided to sit outside. - We had to clear our own table - The table itself was dirty including the table legs which dirtied my clothing. - The surrounds were dirty and unkempt. - Other tables were not cleared with dirty plates and glasses left on them for in excess of an hour. - Ordered our food using the QR code and when the food was served I asked for some cutlery. I was told by the waitress that the cutlery was inside for me to get myself. (What’s the point in ordering at your table if you’ve got to get up to get your own cutlery) furthermore this is very poor customer service. - Ordered the signature burger which was average however very overpriced. I’ve been visiting this pub for the past few years and it seems to be going downhill, whilst the prices go up.

After reading some of the reviews on here, I feel like we were either at a different pub or the staff were having a really off day. After being seated and looking at the menus we waited 10 minutes to be served as didn’t know it was bar service only. I then went to the bar only to be told to sit down and someone- I think she said Sean, would come over to take our order. Another 10 minutes went by and so I asked a girl passing by if we could order - she went away and came back a few minutes later to take our order. It was 40 minutes after we arrived that our drinks finally came to our table . We had seen them sitting on the bar for ages and even when they were brought them over the teapot had been left on the bar so I had to go over and ask for it. The food arrived and wasn’t as good as I was expecting for the price. The ‘roast’ potatoes weren’t roasted at all and 3 of mine were hard in the middle as were 2 of my daughters. The meat was nice though there was no stuffing as advertised. My son had the children’s chicken nuggets and chips and literally had 5 chips on his plate with the same amount of square nuggets- we had to feed him again when we got home as he was still hungry! My husband had fish and chips and his fish was really over cooked like it had been kept under a hot light for ages. When I paid the bill and told the man my concerns about the service, he told me that it’s bar service only and I told him his staff had told me to sit down and that I waited ,only for him to argue again saying that I waited because it’s bar service only. First time visiting here and wouldn’t come again. Food is over priced for what you get- especially the kids meals. The staff are all miserable and not one of them smiled when...

We have ate at this establishment many times in the past, but it has now passed its best by a long way. We booked a table for the Saturday evening three courses for £30 per person like we have done in the past, only to be told on arrival they are not doing this deal today, when asked why, the staff simple replied "we don't know, it's just not on today". My best guess is that due to the nice weather they have taken the offers off, in order to get every last penny out of there customers, as we have notice they have done this before. We stayed and booked our meal anyway, three of pur party ordered the sticky chicken starter, it looked like they had spread two portions between the three of us , as the portions were so small. For our main course three of us ordered the classic burger, this was a wet, greasy, limp mess, that looked like it had been constructed by a three year old, with there hands tied together. I was then approached by our waiter and asked if I was finished with my meal, even though i had my burger in my hand about to take a bite, and the other half still on my plate. My eleven year old son ordered the Katsu Curry bowl, there was a small amount of over fried chicken, with a huge clump of rice in the middle, and what I would assume was a teaspoon of curry sauce to moisten the huge clump of rice. We asked for for some more sauce for our son as he was having difficulty eating stodgy rice, our waiter gladly brought over some more sauce five minutes later, then had the audacity to add money on to the bill, for the sauce that should have been on the plate to begin with.

In short please avoid this overpriced, glorified hungry horse, there are far better eateries to be found...
