I’ve visited Hucks at several Center Parcs locations over the years, but this recent experience was nothing short of appalling. The food quality has taken a significant dive, and the service was mediocre at best. The only redeeming factor remains the play area and family-friendly setup, which is still convenient for a family meal.
What we ordered:
Chicken Burger: A major disappointment. The grilled chicken was dry, served in an untoasted brioche bun with a yellow sauce that tasted generic and unidentifiable—possibly mayo. The portion of coleslaw on the side was minuscule, dry, and seemed to have been sitting out for a while. It was clearly mass-produced and lacked freshness.
Philly Cheesesteak: Far from a true Philly cheesesteak. It came in a part-baked supermarket-style roll with thinly sliced roast beef. The overall quality was subpar, and the accompanying coleslaw was the same uninspiring, dry mess.
Kids' Meals: Equally disappointing. The chicken nuggets were of very poor quality, the baked beans were cold, and while the chips were passable, they were nothing to write home about.
Service: The service was friendly but ultimately it was slow, and to top it off, the bill was incorrect. This added frustration to an already underwhelming experience.
Overall, Hucks has lost the standard of quality we used to enjoy. For the prices charged, we expected far better. It’s hard to justify returning after such a...
Read moreFor the last 3 years my family and I have ended our weekend stay with dinner at hucks on the Sunday evening, we were very impressed with our first 2 visits, hence going back a third time. Unfortunately our latest meal was not particularly great and has left us wondering where we will be eating next time we visit centre parcs.. I decided on the new 'American style fish and chips' when it arrived it was warm for a start, and the fish was tasteless, the only thing I could taste was the maple syrup which was far too overpowering. I decided I would go all out on a decent desert in and attempt to salvage my evening out. I had the 'hot' fudge sundae.. Described in the menu as vanilla and salted caramel ice cream with fudge pieces and a surprise hot fudge centre. Imagine my dismay as I reach the bottom of the bowl and had not found any salted caramel ice cream nor anything anywhere close to 'hot' the chocolate fudge pieces were rock solid and the toffee popcorn scattered throughout were stale and rubbery..
If there is a positive to take from this visit is that my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the kids buffet, of which I think I would have preffered to have eaten from.
I would recommend hucks for anyone wondering what to eat whilst at centre parcs, however I would not recommend the fish and chips, unless warm maple syrup flavoured fish is...
Read moreFood was absolutely delicious. Wish I could have eaten more from the menu! But disappointing service and floor management. Having arrived for our early (pre-school-child-appropriate dinner time) pre-booked meal, we were walked through almost the entire restaurant (fairly empty), to be seated between 2 already full tables. I appreciate staff levels and other booking arrangements dictate some things, but it felt very unnecessary to have 3 families so squashed together. Having been on holiday we've also eaten out several times this past week at various locations, and this has by far been the least friendly / approachable server we've had in that time. No effort made to save us money and/or explain the detail of the kids meal deal, yet when asked mentioned that everyone always queries that part... maybe that's something which could be addressed directly instead of leaving every guest to figure it out! Also, unaware on booking that we'd be sat next to 2 large TV screens, which utterly distracted the small child from eating / engaging with conversation at the table. Not very impressed. Would certainly recommend for adult groups, but I'd be tempted to do takeout myself to experience the food again without having to eat on the premises another time...
