Booked for 9 people on a Sunday for a 60th birthday get together for my brother as it was a mid-way point for everyone to meet and they could cater for Gluten free which two of our party require. But had seen this charming pub in passing a few weeks before & thought how lovely it looked. There's plenty of parking at the rear of the pub an a couple of large bars one with pool table, TV and darts board. The other more comfortable with tables and comfy chairs. Our booed table was in this area but as we arrived the had had a cancellation on a mid sized private room which adjoined the bar area. They offered this to us and it was ideal for our needs. It would also accommodate up to 20 people I would say. I did feel that we were a little forgotten about in there and we needed to go to the bar to get some attention from the staff to take our orders. When the food came the starters didn't disappoint they were amazing! and such good portions! I have to say that I was a little disappointed with the main course of Sunday roast considering that we had booked in advance (although not pre-ordered). My roast potatoes were not crispy (which was the same for everyone) and looked a most unappetising beige colour they were only just cooked through, my Yorkshire pudding was cold and somewhat doughy. But the meat, gravy and accompanying vegetables were good. Apparently the burger was excellent! So maybe I just made the...
Read moreThe Pub, food and atmosphere is wonderful. I have been a few times and love the place, its great because its walking distance from my home. I had gone for a family meal and was having a great time until I popped outside to take a phonecall.
As I was on the phone Graham came out and tapped me on the shoulder, he asked me how everything was going, he was standing extremely close to me (I am 8months pregnant so carrying a little bit of extra baggage) I began to step backwards as I was talking to him, but rather stay still, Graham began to edge in closer.
He put his hand on my bump and began to caress it and ask me about my pregnancy, I pushed his hand away and said 'Please don't touch me' and began to walk off, as I walked off he came up behind me and patted my bottom. I hurried back into the pub and told my family I wanted to leave as I wasn't feeling well.
I feel very outraged by the evening as I have always enjoyed going there and would have loved to continue to go there but Grahams behaviour that night left me...
Read moreDropped in on a wet and miserable Monday evening. On first sight it appeared a bit run down, however, it was clean and tidy. Landlord was very welcoming. My wife and I chose dishes off the "specials" board. The menus were in a tatty condition and menu options are basic. We ordered cottage pie which was homemade and very nice, as good as my own. It came with with veg and gravy. I noticed a ramp by the front door to aid access. Very large car park, with customary pot holes. Not a place for a special night/meal but we'd happily drop in again. Friendly, cosy and nice food. Sadly it's a very hard time for public houses especially "freehouses". (Not confirmed but on reflection I don't recall Greene King being advertised...
