We booked as a family of four on Motherâs Day. Greeted politely and shown our table. The initial server told us there were no kids options or menu as it was a set menu for Motherâs Day. Slightly concerning as both of our boys enjoy a roast dinner but at three and six years old they wonât eat an adults roast at a cost of ÂŁ21. The plan was to order three roasts and split the third between the boys, no drama. A Second Lady approached and confirmed that actually childâs portions were available, perfect. We had our mains and the food was delicious. The beef was wonderful and pink, vegetables were cooked and seasoned well. Our youngest actually just opted to have a sausage roll and some chips, he was very fussy regarding the sesame seeds on top of the pastry, they very kindly took it away and removed the seeds without us even having to ask, thank you! Unfortunately we then had to wait for a desert menu, eventually I asked. After a further 15 minute wait nobody came to take an order from us. Our 3 year old was getting very restless so we needed to move on. Very frustrating watching other tables being served whilst we were just not acknowledged. Huge shame because the experience started out great and was then tarnished at the end for no...
Read moreOur first visit to this pub since itâs been taken over by a local chain. Weâve been several times with different previous owners.||There was a lot of landscaping work going on with artificial grass being laid on the frontage with outside tables. I recall this was originally parking although it had been turned over to additional outdoor seating. The car park didnât seem big enough and we struggled to get a space. Might be more of an issue if the rooms are also in use?||Inside itâs been done up with considerable money spent. It didnât seem finished. ||The emphasis seemed to be on upmarket dining. Food looked good but we didnât eat. We only wanted something simple. Service at the bar was prompt and courteous if a little pretentious.||The issue we found, having taken seats at tables in the window, was that the (new) stools were dammed uncomfortable. Some were wobbly and I had to search for one that didnât seem about to collapse! This put us off as it wasnât pleasant to sit. We finished our drinks and left. I wouldnât recommend unless you want a...
Read moreI have been to the Three Kings many time but this is the first time going since the new owners took over a few years ago. I do not mind paying for decent food, however the food quality just simply was not matching up to the prices. The steak sauce was tasteless. I feel as though the Three Kings are trying to be A Là Carte but they do not have the food quality to execute this. I asked for my steak to be medium rare but it came medium - this is all basic stuff that shouldn't be happening when paying £30. The tomato paste on the potatoe gratin was bizarre and it was so oily I couldn't tell if it were a potatoe gratin or fried bread. My daughters toasted sandwich was same story, it was incredibly greasy, so much so that you couldn't taste the flavours inside the toasted brioche. The service was incredibly slow however the guy was on his own, but the pub was by no means busy. Our drinks arrived mid-way through our meal despite ordering them before ordering our food. Our experience was an all round...
