A lovely looking little pub. That is the only positive thing I have to say! Arrived at just gone 8 on a Friday evening, hoping for a quiet drink and some dinner. It's not often we get a Friday night with no children, so as we enter our eardrums are blasted by the dj stood literally just inside the front door. Nobody else was in the bar area, but at all the furthest points in the place from the dj and the bar. After shouting at the barmaid to see if they had a table for us, we were told they just needed to clean a table and that we could wait in the bar area. So we ordered a drink and perched ourselves at a table, not talking, because we couldn't hear each other. After around 20 minutes, a miserable lad brought us to a table, a bit quieter in the restaurant area, thankfully, so we sat down to look at the menu, sipping our drinks and chatting. After around another 20 to 25 minutes of being ignored by the miserable looking waiter, we caught his attention and asked if we could order. He kind of asked us to bear with and disappeared again. After another 5 minutes, the girl from the bar came over all apologetic and informed us the kitchen was now closed and that the chef(s) were not interested in cooking anything else. So here we are, at almost 9 pm on a Friday night in a restaurant with half a drink still and no food making its way to us. Couldn't be more annoyed as by now, we have no options for dinner locally at all. We are fairly local and had popped in for a pint previously and had liked it in there, but we will most definitely not be returning. There are plenty of other places locally that are just as nice to look at and probably a lot more pleased...
Read moreIf it possible to give Zero star I would do it, I had never felt unwelcome in any pub as this one, the waitresses are rude, unwelcome, unhelpful and with attitude, we booked a table for six, baby and dog, when we arrived there was no booking done for us and the waitress gave us a filthy look ( maybe we were under her standard of customers) I donât even understand why they require booking while half of the tables are empty, we took a table in the back garden as it was enough for all of us, but the waitress kicked us to the front garden, there was no table enough for us, I asked her for 2 chairs but she refused and told us to set in 2 tables, we ask the waitress for menu she told us to order online while every one else making order from the bar, after I order online it took them 30 min to bring the drinks and another 30 min to bring the meal, that food was (Tesco style) it canât be anything else. There was no difference between blue and rare or medium and well done steak, all cooked the same, and every time the waitresses come around us, she give us a disgusting look and talk to us with attitude. if this pub is just for local and regular customers, just write that on website so people can avoid this humiliation. I donât recommend this pub to any one and ethnicity...
Read moreA really poor experience coming to BlackHorse. We informed the gentleman behind the bar we have booking but looking to have food and drinks. There was no one to wait on our table. Noticed one of the waitresses who came but she was in conversation with the gentleman behind the bar and she then proceeded to start clearing a table, and further to that she kept on constant conversation with the gentleman behind the bar, After completing multiple conversation with the gentleman behind the bar she kept on proceeding to clear a table. At this point no acknowledgment being offered a menu. I was with a party of 6 with kids and we had waited 25 min. The main restaurant was not even busy at this point we were acknowledged and were told that we need to order at the bar, but we had not been offered a menu of food and drinks. Further to that as we were leaving we were told its order at bar but we had no view of what to order therefore we left and found comfort in a reliable restaurant at the...
