Used to be a great place to eat but now it’s like they have given up on the food and they look so miserable and menu is so bad I wanted a steak and they didn’t have any with mac and cheese you use to get garlic bread and now you don’t won’t be eating there anymore such a shame and this is there response to my review the audacity To text me on my private number Good morning. I have vascular dementia, I really struggle but I try to continue and work hard for a living, I claim no benefits, just because it was quiet when you were here you claim we have lost interest in food service? Fawlty Towers experience available here. I wouldn't normally write a negative post but our experience here was shambolic and I wouldn't want others to be as disappointed as we were. Lovely friendly waitress. But the drinks order was wrong. When the meals came, one was missing (it hadn't been put through) so he had to wait for his to arrive while the rest of us were eating. Fair enough, mistakes happen. But the owner came out and, rather than apologising for not taking our order properly, made my father pay for another meal while he was in the middle of eating his. We had to pay at every stage; paid for drinks, then the machine came out again for us to pay for the meals before we had eaten them. Then had to pay again for a single meal that they'd not written down when we initially ordered our food. Food was poor. Mine was ok, generous portions, but the kids meals were awful, my husbands chicken pie was basically pastry, he could barely find the meat in it. Steaks weren't edible really. Exceptional Service & the Best Cod & Chips!

I had the pleasure of visiting Samuel’s Rest this week, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The new team has just taken over, and they’re already doing an incredible job.

The cod was beautifully tender, wrapped in the most light, crispy batter; absolute perfection. The chips were just as impressive; fluffy on the inside, golden and crisp on the outside. Easily the best cod and chips I’ve ever had!

What really stood out was the exceptional service. The team went above and beyond to provide a delicious veggie dish for my mate, even though it wasn’t on the menu (only because they’d literally opened 2 days ago. I’m sure there will be lots of yummy veg dishes). That kind of thoughtfulness and care makes all the difference.

The locals were incredibly friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere, and even the dogs were the loveliest I’ve met!

For a team that’s just taken over, they’re already excelling. I can’t wait to come back;...
