Le Papillon Cakes — Restaurant in Woking

After seeing Le Papillon's cakes at the National Wedding show I thought I had found what I wanted for my wedding cake, after meeting Neil and tasting all the flavours he could offer I knew I had found the right person and the right cake. Little did I know then how big a part Neil and his team at Le Papillon Patisserie would play in our big day as we later approached him about providing the canapés and full afternoon tea for our wedding breakfast for 120 guests. What can I say other than WOW! So many comments from our guests 'the best afternoon tea ever', 'raspberry cheesecakes to die for', Neil's passion for his art shines through in all that he does. This is high end patisserie yet at affordable prices.

Our Tea Party wedding cake, consisting of 120 individual gateaux (the final very tough shortlist consisted of Victoria sandwich, carrot cake, pistachio and marmalade, chocolate & mint and lemon drizzle) with a chocolate and praline cake with white chocolate cigarillos to top the five tier stand and they worked with our florists for the flowers to decorate it too. Neil personally came to the venue to set the cake up.

Our afternoon tea included not only the delicious scones that they had baked that morning while we were still asleep but a freshly made strawberry jam from English strawberries, the most delicious mini raspberry cheesecakes, lemon meringue tarts and stunning opera cake, and the attention to detail was evident on every single one. Neil was an absolute joy to work with, not once did I have any stress or worry about the all the catering for our wedding. We had organised, set up and decorated our entire wedding ourselves and feeling so confident about your choice of supplier for such important things like your food and cake is an absolute godsend. We can't recommend Le Papillon highly enough, a professional yet friendly and personal service and stunning cakes that really do taste as good as they look....

We could not recommend Le Papillon Patisserie more highly! We wanted a wedding cake that was different, eye catching, flavoursome, elegant and something that our guests would remember. Neil fulfilled the whole brief! He provided a very well organised cake tasting, gave us the range of options we could go for and didn't pressure us into deciding there and then...although after tasting the cakes and gateaux's, they sold themselves! We decided on the French Gateaux style with 5 different flavours of gateaux and a sponge with berries on top. I even ordered more individual gateauxs just so that I could taste every single one on the wedding day!

The cakes arrived on time on the day, were set up by Neil's team during our Wedding Breakfast so that guests could view them afterwards and we served them with the evening BBQ. They looked perfect on their stand and tasted wonderful...it wasn't just me who wanted seconds!! We chose le Papillon Patisserie for our wedding cake mainly because that they were the only bakery we called who could accommodate our many dietary requirements! We were extremely pleased. The process of choosing the cake couldn't have been easier - we were overrun with wedding admin and weren't able to get to Woking for a cake consultation, but it was all done over the phone and email (they do offer face to face consultations for those who want them). There is a huge amount of choice and the options and prices are clearly displayed on their website. The prices seemed comparable to other bakeries we had tried.
