Fantastic night seeing Signing Off - UB40!

Problems encountered were waited 40 mins to get our first drink, although not as long after there didn't seem to be any system to serving customers in a fair way. Although the bar staff were rushed off their feet, they seemed to concentrate on serving the regulars first and the males second. Most disappointing for us females. It was packed to the rafters and a slight confusion of why we purchased - in advance - tickets for entry, which although were only £3 each, wasn't needed as no-one was monitoring the door so was walking in free of charge.

Rose is new to the pub and has some great ideas if last night was anything to go by 👍 as previously stated it was the waiting time at the bar that was the issue and staff completely dismissing you eventhough they could see who had been stood infront of them before their break and returned to see you still there, in exactly...

We have visited this place several times, everytime there has been an issue,

Mainly staff miscommunicating, either with each other or with customers, staff having an attitude when an issue is raised or just smiling and not trying to resolve the issue.

In fact staff seem more interested in gossiping with each other then helping customers, a 15 minute conversation about how bad someone they both know looked when they came into the pub... Not very proffesional.

The cleanliness could be improved as well as on several occasions we have had sticky tables.

Overall the food is nice but when a problem occurs they couldn't care less, and in the service industry that is not what should be happening.

Managers need to take this criticism on board, I will...

Been living near Merry Boys for the best part of 20 years and had never ventured inside... today went in with my mom and it was really nice! A warm welcome from staff, clean, spacious... and the food we ordered was really nice! I had a steak and cheese baguette with onion chutney... my mom had the cod and chips with mushy peas, both from the light bites menu... both meals came to about £13 and again I can't stress how much we both enjoyed them... and we're pretty fussy eaters haha... clean cutlery, tables, the toilets too... and then Rose, the pub manager, couldn't have been lovelier... thanks for creating such a warm...
