This is likely the 5th time we have ordered from The Curry Lounge in Wolverhampton; It is with regret that tonight was our final time.
The first order we made back in March/April time was delicious. The food was hot, fresh and packed with flavour: a solid 9/10. Since then, with each order we have become more disappointed and dissatisfied. While the food is always prepared quickly and delivered efficiently, standards have become sloppy. Tonight, we thought we would give the Lounge another punt and ordered our usual. The delivery came quickly and efficiently (we overlooked the fact the driver was not wearing a mask or adhering to any social distancing rules). Upon arrival, we found the lamb balti had spilled out into the bag and soaked the other food items, the parotha was missing from the order and the raita had curdled in transit (we assume from sitting atop the hot food). We called them up straight away, and the friendly guy on the other end of the phone offered to replace the order immediately for which we were grateful. Less than 20 mins later, the second order arrived and we received a personal apology which again, was appreciated-- these things happen-- and we took the food inside. After opening the bag, we quickly discovered yet another spilled curry: this spill worse than the last. The curry had seeped through the foil-packed naan bread and poppadums. After the previous ordeal, we decided to just salvage what we could and to be perfectly honest, the meal we had so looked forward to was a giant disappointment. The curry was almost flavourless, sloppy and overpowered by tomato--it was red-tinged and sickly sweet-- kind of like a bolognese with an Indian twist, albeit lacking any real flavour. The long-anticipated parotha was dry and floury and the poppadums were soggy and smelt of fish. All in all, a poor show from Curry Lounge and one we refuse to...
Read moreThe food is delicious truly authentic Indian cuisine with several mouth watering chef's specials. The spices for some dishes are so delicately used if you eat too fast you will miss them. Other dishes on the menu are bursting with flavour that will give you an explosion in your mouth with flavour, but not cause an explosion on the throne. Let's face it depending on how you're feeling will depend on the type of curry you have. The staff are extremely friendly and polite and nothing is too much. The quality of food is excellent and the portion size is just right. The manager himself is not too shy to help out with the great service you can expect. Thoroughly recommend this place for an all round wonderful night. You'll have to be quick & book as it fills up quickly with weekly regularisation make a point of going every week. I even heard it said that the staff there are in certain couples care bubbles! Beat the queues and book soon to be amazed. Covid19 friendly and social distancing to suit. Will be returning shortly to keep my...
Read moreWe've visited this place before a number of years ago, so thought about heading back for a sunday "Banquet", a fixed-menu offer - it was pretty quiet (we were the only customers)
This time there was a smaller group (7) and we picked up beers before (they don't serve it but are more than happy for you to bring your own).
Poppadums arrived with two jugs: one of mint yoghurt, another of red chilli jam. There was also a large bowl of shredded onions (with an occasional bit of carrot and cucumber in), so didn't offer much variety with the poppadums.
I opted for a Samosa starter, which was small but sufficient.
My main I ordered a Rogan. It was nice to have some veg in it, but felt it was just another curry with some tinned tomatoes added, and didn't have that rich tomato paste undercurrent I've enjoyed in some Rogans.
In all, not bad for a cheap meal, but nothing fantastic to...
