The current 'license holder' seriously needs to learn a thing or two about customer service - he is utterly abysmal at his job and honestly a joke
The man is beyond rude and will openly say to customers that have complaints about his attitude 'leave then'
Friends of ours were recently told by this manchild that their kids must stop playing around and remain seated (in the garden area). When our friend said to this supposed 'license holder' that he thought this was a 'family friendly pub', the bloke rudely told him 'well don't come back then'.
Our own (but not our first experience with him) came recently when we were at a charity event in the pubs garden. Many people (including us) were standing up as seating outside was limited and the seats were soaked from the rain. The 'man' in question then told everybody that 'we have to sit down' to which we asked 'could you dry the seats' which he refused to do. He then returned 5 minutes later, walked up to us, and simply said 'your options are go inside, sit down or leave'. Keep in mind such rudeness came out of literally nowhere - what kind of customer service is that?
When we took issue with his appalling attitude he started walking off and shouted to us 'leave then' (keep in mind this was at a charity memorial event). This guy is honestly beyond terrible at his job and a pathetic, spineless individual all around.
Literally everybody we know that frequents the pub has either had a bad experience with this idiot or knows of somebody who has.
I will not be spending another penny at a place with a 'license owner' this appalling at his job. I am fairly certain that having good customer service skills is a prerequisite for this kind of job - this guy should therefore be booted to the pavement. Never have I seen a more miserable, rude, anti-social and tactless pub...

He always makes time to speak to the customers and seems genuinely interested in them. He also supports local teams and gets involved in community events and fund raising, like when he spent a week living on the pub roof ! (Or did i dream that?)
Good food. Nice venue. Always a gentle buzz about the place. Fabulous crisp/nut selection. Loads of parking. Outdoor seating area as well as a proper beer garden. Ideal for locals and visitors alike. Not the type of place where everyone looks round with a shocked expression when someone different walks in.
Quiz night every Sunday with cash prizes.
There are always enough staff behind the bar to guarantee getting served swiftly, even when it's very busy.
UPDATE - Keith is no longer the landlord. He has moved on to pastures new for a fresh challenge.
I should have mentioned this before but i do have 1 gripe with the pub....
I dunno how long its been there but i moved to Claines in 1980 or 81 and The New Inn was there then. Nearly 40 years later, it's no longer "new" is it? I think therefore they should rename to The Well Established Inn.
I now understand that it's not strictly an Inn either since they have no rooms available to cater for short term guests. Now i know how Mary & Joseph felt.
I dunno about you reader but i think the brewery have taken us...
Read moreBooked a table here for lunch before going across the road to purchase my wife a new car. We booked for midday, just as they opened. Our table was reserved so we sat down and ordered via the QR code on the table which was quick and easy. The food arrived very quickly and was piping hot, showing it was freshly cooked and not kept warm under heat lamps. My wife had Bangers and Mash and i had Fish & Chips, both tasted superb, the fish was lovely crispy and the triple cooked chips were obviously a decent quality potato. My wife complimented on her meal, i had a taste and i had to agree, a very good meal. Prices were a little high but i had a discount code from Marston's which too 40% off the mains and made it a lot...
