My partner and I decided to go here for breakfast. On arrival we were encouraged with how busy the place was and the welcome from the young girl on reception was absolutely on point, sadly from there the experience swiftly went down hill. I first went to get a cup of tea which is located near the buffet food area. I noticed there were no edible eggs available and the tinned tomato bowl only contained juice so decided it wasn’t a good time to collect food so went back to my table and drank half a cup of tea before trying again. When I returned there were still no eggs, so I asked the guy behind the counter if he could get some for me and he replied that they are always coming and would be here in a few seconds. I decided to put my toast in the rotating toast machine at that point so that it would be nice and hot for when I chose the rest of the items. The bread was not toasted on the first pass so I put it through again and the toast returned burnt. I knew that if I did the same thing again, I would end up with the same result so decided to stick with by burnt toast. The eggs had still not arrived. I stood and waited for a good ten minutes and still no sign of eggs, The guy who I had already asked for eggs was behind the buffet area moving a few things about and asked me if I was only waiting for eggs, He made me feel as if I could have my food without them. I replied that I was just waiting for eggs and that I didn’t want to take other items from under the heat lamps because I didn’t want the rest of my food to get cold while I waited for eggs. Eventually the eggs arrived by which time I had thrown the original piece of toast away because it was stone cold and burnt myself another slice. I plated up, just about leaving the skin on my hands from the ridiculously hot plastic spoons that were there to serve your own food and took my breakfast back to my table. The food was very poor quality, the hash browns were tough and inedible, the mushrooms appeared and tasted like they had been there for days. The eggs were overcooked and everything else was just very poor. I ate some of my meal and left a good amount, despite this being all you can eat. Who would want to go back for more? I did go for another cup of tea and noticed clearly dissatisfied people hanging around waiting for eggs again. I wouldn’t return here for breakfast and the experience has put me off returning for a roast dinner. There is a Harvester just across the road. I would recommend that you go...
Read moreId avoid if you like good food. Came here for a carvery for the first time in years. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. The Yorkshire puddings were like cardboard, the pigs in blankets were anaemic, the vegetables were undercooked and the meat was incredibly chewy. The roast potatoes looked lovely and crispy but were actually very soft. Nit only are we big foodies, my husband is a very successful head chef and kitchen manager and has been for 15 years...it's safe to say he was not impressed. In regards to the atmosphere, there were just a bunch of young (maybe under 25/26 year olds) running the front of house, shouting, swearing and peeing about with their friends that came and were sat in the pub section, right next to where people were eating. It was unprofessional and rude. The manager (or who looked like the manager) appeared to be sat there completely ignoring this behaviour. It was quite dead, which it never used to be. But, after seeing how they behaved and the awful food either under or over cooked...I can see why. Then, 2 weeks later I returned with my pension age nan for breakfast, that was much better. But, the eggs were so undercooked they were still partly see through. When my nan politely asked the chef if she could cook her egg more, he said "the light will cook it" she then replied a little shocked "yes if I stand here and wait" he ignored her and walked off! She had to wait for more eggs to come out that were also only half cooked. This is not only dangerous, as I'm sure you're aware, half cooked eggs are more harmful than even raw ones, it was extremely rude service from a man that likely has the nerve to call himself a chef! Not pleased with this place at all and such a shame, because generally the food looks good but it just didn't...
Read moreOur experience wasn't so great we came as a family of four, two adults two children. The waitress that served us seemed like she didn't even want to be there no smile no nothing. Took our drink order and just left we had to flag them down to order our food as one child wasn't having a carvary and was having nuggets off the little tummies menu when the nuggets were ready she did come over and say she was bringing them out and I saw her a further three times after that each time saying she's bringing them well when they arrived. They were solid as a Rock couldn't even cut into them and when we did the chicken was grey it was like they had been warmed up in the microwave we complained and was given a new batch these were no better pale pale soggy and luke warm. We then sat with our plates on the table for a good half an hour. Dessert was brought out while the plates were still on the table the sticky toffee pudding was not sticky at it was dry and hard. When the bill came it was £55 we told them about our wowcher voucher again as we did tell them at the start too she took the voucher and the price was still wrong we also explained that the little tummies menu is showing cheaper as she told us it was 4.99 when asked previously to then be told no its 5.99 same price as the bigger kids menu throughout the week even on the menu it was showing a different price so god knows what was happening. We were given four receipts in the end. The carvery was good and the rest of us really enjoyed it but its such a shame about the kids dinner and the hassle with the prices...
