I'm not a pub person. However, this place provides a very welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. It's quiet enough so that you can hear the company you're with and well laid out to suit larger group gatherings and smaller ones. The staff were very friendly and chatty, it felt natural and they did not include pointless small talk and constant bothering. They were polite and asked if all was well, we're attentive to when drinks needed a top up and so on. The garden is beautiful and overlooks the river with many benches across 3 levels. Even in winter it was pleasant to go out there briefly. The food was delicious, great portions to satisfy, well presented and a delight to the senses! Overall, a lovely place providing a pleasant visit.

The pub is situated in the centre of the village of Wyre Piddle. We visited this pub 12 months ago and the food, ambience was fantastic. I booked a table for 10 on 4 July on advising the staff we had arrived we then had to arrange the tables to accommodate our party ( strike 1). When we were presented with the menus we assumed they gave us their lunch menus but no this was the one and only menu ( strike 2). The menu was uninspiring and when I spoke to the recent new manager and offered sone customer feedback, he gave me the impression he wasn’t bothered ( strike 3). We walked out and found a lovely Italian restaurant in Pershore. For anyone who wishes to visit the Anchor here is the menu and prices £9.95 for a cheese sandwich.

A beautiful location, nestled above the River Avon in Wyre Piddle, we have visited the anchor inn several times both in the day and the evening. The evening meals were very tasty, with standard gastropub food that went down a treat. Our lunch wasn't quite as successful, with a distinct drop in quality compared to the evenings. It was still a good lunch out, but not as good as past meals. The lunchtime atmosphere in the sun over the river did help though! One final note, if you're eating and drinking outside, prepare to navigate the many different staircases between the multiple beer gardens. All being said, still recommend the anchor for the location and evening meals.

⭐ 1 Star – Absolutely Vile Hygiene Practices – A Serious Health Risk ⭐

This was one of the most disgusting and shocking things I’ve ever witnessed at a food establishment.

Staff were using a broom that had just been on the DIRTY HUT FLOOR and swept around the OUTSIDE where people walk, then using that exact same filthy broom to clean the pizza oven and the food prep surfaces. I watched them pull the broom straight out of a pile of crumbs and debris on the ground and scrub the oven with it — then go back to serving food from that oven as if nothing happened.

And it wasn’t just one staff member — multiple young staff did the same thing, more than once, showing this is their “normal” way of working.

I got the whole thing on video — both brooms being used to sweep the ground, then being used directly on the oven and sides where food is prepared.

I confronted one of the young staff members and asked him directly: “Would you eat food out of that oven after using the floor broom on it?” He replied, “No.” That says it all.

I then asked to speak to the manager, and somehow, it got worse. She didn’t care in the slightest. No apology, no urgency, no cleaning, no food recall. She just rolled her eyes and said they had two brooms — even though both were being used on the floor and food surfaces in plain view.

They continued to serve food from a dirty oven that had been cleaned with a floor broom.

This isn’t a minor mistake — it’s a serious health risk. My partner is pregnant, and thank God we didn’t eat anything — but others did, and that’s deeply worrying.

This place shows no hygiene control, no training, and no accountability. It’s shocking.

I’ll be reporting this to Environmental Health and the Food Standards Agency with full video evidence.

DO NOT eat here. STAY AWAY.

P.S. – Just look at how disgusting the broom is. It’s filthy. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. If you use a small brush like dominos staff...

We hired a boat from a Avon View Marina and as we were cruising up the river Avon, we noticed this pub with free mooring so we asked if we could moor up and for the night to which they said we could. We stayed and had our tea there which was lovely, We had a carvery which was sirloin beef or chicken and vegetables. It was delicious and definately worth the money. Drinks were reasonable aswell. Could not fault the waitress that helped us with our service. Didn't get her name but she had red hair, she was really friendly, made sure we had plenty to drink and helped us with mooring queries. Because the toilets are in a building with outside access, we were told that we could use these facilities even when the pub is closed which was nicer than using the toilet on the boat. Shall definatley visit this pub again even if we're...

Unfortunately I am unable to give a zero star rating.... On arrival I asked if any tables were available to eat. I was very rudely told by the blond lady behind the bar that I should have booked. When I told her that I'd try to telephone but couldn't get through she barked at me that she'd thought the lines had been fixed. She went on on to say there was nothing available for over an hour. Had I have been offered a table to have a drink I would have happily waited to eat, however the option wasn't given to me. The lady then muttered something to the young man next to her, when questioned she told me she was talking to herself. She has no business being in any type of service industry role. She was obnoxious, extremely condescending and the exact opposite of what I would expect to see at...
