This is been one of my favourite places to dine, food and the service has always been outstanding, I don't expect food business to get it right 100-percent of the time but on my last visit the food was awful, cheap meat cuts and tasteless, As I prefer to give my feedback privately,, so I phoned the next day and I spoke to the business manager Kerry, her reaction was shocking, making me feel like I was the problem for phoning, I was really taken aback by her reaction, it was so rude and condescending.. I have lost count of how many people I have previously recommended. the bell to Is this really how you value your customers Kerry?? Won't be rushing back after this encounter and will certainly not be recommending the bell again

Your response said it all Kerry it id so disappointing, you don’t get it from the customer perspective, you still come across as defensive, and not taking on board my feedback

Your response:

“I do not disagree as we make mistakes like any other business. I am the least defensive person you can imagine and well versed with customer communication. Many thanks for the...

An excellent experience with very friendly & helpful staff. The room was spacious & very clean & although basic, the bed was very comfortable & I slept really well. Although hairdryers are available, it is on request & not in the room. They are closed between 15:00 & 18:00 so you need to check in before or after those times. Expedia stated from 13:00 so this led to a wait as I arrive at 17:00 however checking my message from the pub, it did state check in from 18:00. There is parking directly outside the pub for patrons only but this is limited. The food is amazing! I had steak with fried bacon, onion & potatoes. The peppercorn sauce was not for me though as I felt it bland, but that's personal taste. The steak was perfectly cooked & I could eat it again right now!!! 🤤 I also had a chocolate dessert which was sublime. For breakfast, it's only an hour slot 08:00 - 09:00 but I'd thought I'd been told it was 09:00 - 10:00. The chef however was very accommodating & made me a perfectly cooked bacon omelette & tea before I checked out....

The building occupies a commanding location in this pretty village and the owners appear to be making good use of the space. It is a pub, a restaurant, a B&B and most likely the hub of the village community. At a time when the going in the hospitality industry is tough, this business appears to be making the most of its assets.||||I stayed for one night while on route to somewhere else. I did not know the a area but was looking for somewhere cheap to stay over. I was really quite surprised at what I got for my £60. There is ample off-road parking and the two bar areas are comfortable, modern and welcoming. The staff were cheerful and polite, even though I arrived late on and well into their shift. The room I had was fully adequate; not overly large and could benefit from redecorating but perfectly fine at the price. Likewise the bathroom and shower.||||Crowning glory was the breakfast. Full English plus all the trimmings in an impressive dining area. For somewhere in such a remote location, this is a top place to stay when...

Just returned from overnight stay at what is advertised online as 4 star hotel. Absolutely not! This is barely 2 star, at best. The double room was small, cold and extremely musty smelling, there was mould on the window frame, windows were full of condensation, bathroom mirror light didn’t work, shower was either boiling hot or freezing cold, the bath towels were more like hand towels (I’m average build) and you could hear every little sound from the people staying in the room next door. Also, being ‘so-called’ 4star I would have expected, in the least, the radiators be switched on prior to our visit, especially during winter months.. or is that too much to ask? Only positive was a comfy bed… Restaurant: bar and restaurant staff were extremely polite and engaging. Evening meal was great and gluten free options a real bonus! Breakfast was average at best .. on a whole, I would only ever recommend for evening meals.

If the Daily Mail's 'An Inspector Calls' feature ever bothered to venture beyond London and the South East there's a better chance of them happening on a place like this. There was a welcoming atmosphere the moment you walked through the door. It even had something of a French feel to it which was appropriate since there were three frenchmen dining at the next table. Restaurant service was excellent and the food delicious. It was busy and the place had a real buzz to it which was quite an achievement considering there was no music being played. The Restaurant opened out onto a beer garden which I imagine would be populated for far longer had the weather been a little warmer. Our room was a little on the small side but was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. Good full English breakfast the next morning. Would definitely recommend this place.
