Ordered steak & ale pie got what looked like stew without any pastry. Bar staff very friendly. Waiters came in once never came back to ask how the meal was, a lot of young staff. Beer was just okay not many choice, at least the cider was nice and sweet not vingery. Couple near my table asked for house red wine they got given white, at least was quickly resolved after 5 minutes. Fish & Chips was nice not greasy, with a nice large bowl of mushy peas. Salsa burger was a bit spicy. Nice lounge area. Nice outdoor area plenty of seating next to the lock At least they gave us a free desert for no pastry in the pie. The desert came and it was small a a chocolate sunday was not as nice as it was last time came Small bar area at the front as you walkin to the pub on the left side. Lounge is straight forward. Recomend booking so no waiting for a table. New customers a group of 6 came in got told by a young lad that upstairs was not cleaned and they had booked this 2 weeks ago. Whilst finishing up our drinks got told by the young bar staff lad to hurry up, as this new group of 6 wanted the seats, for this you loose stars, you dont ask people to hurry up when we only been there 45 minutes. Manager was not in. Waiter staff need better training, the girl with the dark hair who served us did a great job, manager only works couple...

I'm really sorry to be so negative about the Lock Inn at Wolverley. We visited last August & loved the place but now it would seem as though it's under new management, they need to update or close the website as the menu is nothing like what's on the site. Maybe they have shortages after the bank holiday weekend & have also had to recruit some new staff but they didn't really communicate this. Even what was served from what they actually had wasn't as described, the buttered cob wasn’t buttered,it was margarine, they forgot to tell us they'd run out of salad and the tortilla chips with cobs were absolutely tasteless. They did work putting a few in the cob to add crunch & we did get a refund for the lack of salad. The saving grace was that the chips were lovely & we wished we'd just gone for two portions of chips & some beer battered onion rings. Another thing was being charged for a beer before the pint was pulled. My husband had to ask for a partial refund because they had run out of the beer he'd paid for & the substitute was cheaper, didn't seem to know that mild & bitter are two very different brews. Unless we got them on a bad day they don't serve food all day either as the previous management did. It's still a lovely site, the beer was good but the new management really need to take down the old website &...

We had to moor up at Wolverley due to unforeseen circumstances which thankfully turned out okay in the end. Our treat afterwards was a lovely drink at The Lock Inn and two portions of chips. A very pretty pub even though it's right on a busy main road from Wolverley village which crosses the canal with Wolverley Bridge. If you wanted a pub right on the canal, this is it...Wolverley Lock is right next to the the bridge and close to the road! You can watch the canal boaters coming up or going down on the outside seating area which has lovely tables and umbrellas. Say hello to the canal boaters whilst you're here and great place to see all the different style and decorations of the canal boats. The Lock Inn pub is a fascinating place and the building dates back to the 16th-C when it was Cottages apparently. Converted over the years to a pub. They told me that The Lock Inn predates the canal itself, wow and hard to believe as it feels as it is part of the canal ...! The staff were friendly and welcoming and the chips and drinks were perfect. Thanks Lock Inn for the relaxing experience to unwind our earlier worries of the day! We had a quick peek into the Old Smithy Tearoom on the way back to our moorings and it looked lovely, maybe next time when we're back here again...

Lovely little tearoom right on the canal based in what used to be the peacock house when I was a kid. As a child I would walk along the tow path with my family, kept in check by a German Shepherd named Barney then return for a glass of coke and a play on the swings. I've not used the pub for a while now, not because of any issues just because it hasn't happened. But me and my mum often visit the tearoom for breakfast or brunch. We usually have the same order too, tea for two and beans on toast twice with brown bread. The staff are accommodating and chatty. They have a breakfast & lunch menu. Served the usual hot and cold drinks. Ice cream is also available. And in the corner of the cafe there is a selection of cards and gifts to be purchased that been made locally. As well as being able to sit in the tearoom or in the garden, walkers and those travelling by boat can be served at the window that looks onto the towpath. Prices are fair and seating inside is limited, by that I mean if the tables outside were full and it started to rain not all would fit inside. There is coverage over some of the outside seating. Overall, a lovely place to call into while passing by car, by bike, on foot or by boat! Dogs are welcome at the tea room. Water bowls with fresh water are provided.

Decided to have Sunday lunch there as it was local to where we were staying. I ordered bacon, brie and cranberry baggett and my husband ordered pea and ham soup. His soup was incredibly salty so returned it and ordered a cheese and ham baggett. There way very little brie in my baggett and my husband baggett looked like they just put any old left over chunks of ham and cheese in his. The young lady waitress as she passed us said "don't worry I'm not charging you for the baggett" as though she was doing us a favour. Too right we weren't going to be charged for it, the soup was inedible.
