08-17-2025 Everything was on point as usual. The special was a soft shell crab sandwich and it came out quick and hot! Great service and great food. I'm usually here once a week and it rarely disappoints.
04-27-2025 The great music here matches the great food and atmosphere. While the reuben is still my current favorite, I had the wings last night for the first time. The service was great, and the "Party on the Patio" event was outstanding and such a good time. Love this place!
03-28-2025 Came in around 8pm and the music was awesome. Decided to sit outside and ordered the Reuben... added bacon, which made all the difference. Great service and great food again. 10-4-2024 Seated immediately near the music... but the wait developed a short time after. Went with the Blackened Redfish special tonight. In the past, I was an avid fisherman and always felt disappointed when a fake fish was passed off as being Redfish... but this meal was exactly as it should be. Might be my new favorite... if I wasn't so stuffed from it! Definitely filling. Service was impeccable.
9-14-2024 Been several times since the last update and have had zero issues. Had the Chicken Abitafeller... a play on the cream spinach part of the dish. It was incredible. Adding photos from recent visits.
6-1-2024 After a bad burger experience, I decided to switch back from the poboys to the burgers... yes, I did comment about my past undercooked patty. Still, I only had an issue here once. When I arrived I was seated immediately on a busy night, probably since I requested to be near the great live music. Ordered onions rings and delayed the burger order to enjoy the music... had a great time, and while the waitress rushed the bill... I was there much longer than most, and I'm sure her shift was ending. Solid experience as usual.
3-17-2023 This has become my usual Friday spot. Good music, good food... and mostly good service. Changed it up tonight for Lent and had the combination catfish and shrimp poboy... added Swiss and onions. It did not disappoint! They probably want me to leave, as I often dine here alone to hear the music... but so far, I've never felt rushed regardless of the waitlist and wait time.
2-4-23 Been a few times again and tried the Reuben sandwich... while it was great, went back to my Gouda Burger with added bacon. I also added avocado... and I believe I have my go-to Abita Brew Pub order. When the music is right... there's no better place to be!
1-7-2023 Back again... and tried the Gouda burger again... just to be sure it wasn't a fluke... added bacon, and it did not disappoint. Cooked perfectly to my order. On other visits, I had the seafood plate and the stuffed boudin quail. Everything is great here!
12-3-2022 Always great music and I'm surprised how few people recognize the talent that plays here. Got the Gouda burger tonight, and while I've had burgers here before... this one was the best so far. Not so much due to the gouda... but more to the fact that it was cooked perfectly! A burger should stand out due to the actual burger patty... and this time it did! Great job!
9-2-2022 Came for the music but had a great dinner. Decided on the fish tacos after the bartender's recommendation and it did not disappoint. Clean refreshing flavor with crunchy slaw and crispy blackened Mahi Mahi. Oh... the music was top notch too!
Previously... Stopped in for some music and a killer burger, but the music apparently didn't show up. Still had the actual Killer Burger and it was pretty good. Not cooked medium as ordered but still tasty. Service was super friendly and can't wait to go back... I'll just call first to confirm the music is actually playing! (Technically not...
Read moreIs it just the times that people have lost all concept of appropriate conversation? We just moved in up the street from Abita brew pub. We were extremely excited about living a short walk from this restaurant as we visited it a few times while house hunting. We brought my in-laws and had an excellent time. From all my experiences with this establishment I can say the food really depends on what you order. The sandwiches are small but very tasty. The entrees are delicious. Everything fried is on point. The service though, dear lord, I have not gone here not once and had a fantastic server but today took the all time cake! Worst server at any restaurant I've EVER been to and we are ALL restaurant people on both sides of the family. My uncle even owns a cafe off the Nile just outside of Cairo... yes, Cairo Egypt. My husband ordered a Jameson neat and they brought it on ice and when he tried to say something, the lady who brought it just side eyed him very sternly. I think the servers here have been awkward at best and I mean I get it, I was a very high end chef for many years who served upwards of 600 covers a night all with a wedding special menu going on and a jerk on Fry station whining about why he should be on grill. Like I get busy restaurant vibes, I get we're in the time of say what you want, be yourself blah blah blah but really, if you stand there and start judging me about bringing my toddler to lunch with me, you're out of line. If that same server continues to smirk at me and jeer me about being "overwhelmed" because my son is throwing a fit about not wanting to sit still, you're just a jerk. If that same server continues to let me know why she doesn't take her toddler out with her ever, 😤 like what the hell? OK, now you're just pressing my buttons for no reason. Then you have the audacity to bring me the bill and hover over me, telling me how I'm lucky I have a man cause yours "might as well not be there." Completely cringe worthy experience and I was already wrestling a toddler who just wanted to go play and not sit at a table so we had to pack up quickly and pay because we were so embarrassed by the entire series of events and this server with her completely inappropriate comments and attitude was a huge part of the problem. This server was wretched. We have literally taken my son out once a week since he was about 6 months old and a good server can make a huge difference. If my husband and I are uncomfortable as we were today, little man usually gets uncomfortable, if we feel welcome and comfortable, like we did at our old usual, then little man is fine. We were high level uncomfortable from the moment this server came over and began telling us how "mean" and misbehaved her own child is. This is regrettable as we really wanted this to be our place. We tipped 20%, I wish I hadn't but then again, as we bring our toddler everywhere with us we usually tip much more for better service. I see the owner responds on here often. Owner, if you have questions feel free to give me your contact info otherwise this is basically just a sticky note to myself maybe an affirmation to others if they were...
Read moreToday had perfect weather. The Farmer's market wasn't packed with vendors, nor was the area filled with customers. Our group did our usual walking through the market, and then ended up at Abita Brew Pub. There was a longer than wait for an outside dining table. The delay wasn't due to an overabundance of customers. It was due to a shortage of staff. (This was told to us by the bartender). When our group noticed a table had been cleaned, and vacant, we safely assumed it was our turn to be seated. We patiently waited to be seated by the wait staff. Several minutes passed and still we were not seated. Finally, we took it upon ourselves to seat our selves. A "portly" server approached the table and rudely asked us to get up. That this table was for another group. I suggested he be a bit more friendly when addressing a customer. (I'll refer to the server as "Tubby" because I don't know his name). Tubby said something under his breath as we left the table. As our group was several steps away, the hostess calls our group name to be seated. Guess where we were led to sit. Yes! The same table we just left. We requested that Tubby not be our server, and that he was unjustly rude. Our lunch was wonderful, our server was outstanding. And whats even funnier is that another table had complained about Tubby. Tubby apparently walked off his shift. The moral of the story is... if you don't know how to speak to your customers, you shouldn't be working in the business of serving customers. This pub is very friendly. The outdoor seating is kept at a comfortable temperature by the misting fans. There is an activity area for young children to play near the tables that can get a bit loud. Its obvious that some patrons don't appreciate the loud crashing sounds of ginormous sized checkers falling to the ground. But, I guess that you can't expect children to sit still these days. The food served never disappoints. The servers are attentive and friendly. And best part is that the outdoor seating is Dog friendly! (By the way...ASK the dog owner permission BEFORE you...
