Found this quaint spot on my drive down the Eastern Shore of VA. You do have to take a little detour onto Route 13 Business through Historic Accomac. While there really isn't any retail or other eating options on this route (at least none that I noticed driving through), this hometown cafe offers a great alternative to fast food.
I ordered "the Clerk" sandwich but subbed the Honey Ham for the Turkey. Everything was fresh, from the soft wheat bread, to the alfalfa sprouts, sliced tomatoes, and crisp lettuce. And the flavors blended nicely with the cranberry mayo. I initially planned to take a bite or two and then hit the road, but instead I sat in the parking lot for an additional 10 mins and ate half the sandwich!
The young lady was very kind and hospitable.
Bathroom: Clean: Yes Changing Table: No Bonus features: None to mention
Add'l Notes: Because the cafe was originally a house, the single bathroom seems to be a jack and jill bathroom connecting two different rooms. So I would suggest making sure both doors are locked 😊. There's still an old shower but it is closed off...
Read moreI am do excited to share my story about this wonderful discovery! I have been loving on Folly Creek in Accomac for 5 years but visiting here for almost 45 before that when my folks lived here. Guess what - my first visit to Mallards Sidewalk Cafe took place only a month ago! Are you kidding me!?!? I took my wife there today and she absolutely fell in love with it! The sandwiches are yummy and so big that the little woman could only make it through half of hers (she had the rest for dinner tonight). It was so great that she wants to bring our friends, who are visiting from Pennsylvania, here for lunch tomorrow! Bye the way, the “Clerk” was her sandwich of choice and she loved it so much that I plan to order...
Read moreA cozy little cafe. The sandwiches are the same quality as if you made one at home, so not bad at all but nothing unique. However, this make the price absolutely unjustified. I spent just over 20 dollars for a cold sandwich, a cup of soup, and little bottle of soda. That is one hell of a mark up.
The soup was good. Maybe a little heavy on the thickener and could use for more spices, but better than something you'd get from Panera.
Service was okay.
I'd pass on this spot. If youre looking for a quick lunch you're better off packing your...
