Note: This was our first visit to a new restaurant, and I expect they are working out the kinks.
Drinks: We ordered a margarita and a mule. Both drinks were good, but were served with dry ice. While I am a fan of dry ice for whiskey, where you want to chill a drink without watering it down, this was just a "gimmick" with a margarita. Not impressed. Chips and salsa: Salsa was great. No chips. It was served with a giant toasted flour tortilla that tasted like matzoh. Not a fan. Appetizer: Chips and queso were...well chips and queso. Good, but not worth the $15 price.
Main: My husband said his chimichanga was great. I ordered their Tres Lunas enchiladas to get a taste of diffetent sauces. My first dish had a hair under the rice, so it was exchanged for a fresh plate. No apology.
Cheese and green sauce was bitter, and cheese wasn't melted. Beef with red sauce tasted sweet, as if sugar had been added. The mole sauce was great, but the chicken inside the enchilada was dry and not seasoned. The refried beens were good, but the rice was tasteless.
Dessert: We asked our server what they had and she said "flan, churros, cornbread, and brownies"..literally...no elaboration. We ordered the cornbread, out of curiosity wondering what "cornbread" meant for dessert. It turned out to be an ice cream sundae flambeed tableside, with a heated vanilla sauce. It was excellent, but we wouldn't have known it from the description.
Service: eh. I mentioned the hair in the food before...I would have exoected a pretty intense apology, but just had the plate switched. No manager ever visited. When we asked questions about the menu, the server just read from the menu without details. When I asked if their "Ghost" Chimichangas had ghost peppers, she said yes...but they didn't. Still don't know why they were called.
Atmosphere: Noisy and bustling. Our table was in front of the passageway to the kitchen, so I saw servers waiting for plates, etc. Not a great view for an evening dinner. This only affected two tabkes, though. It was our misfortune to be seated there.
Overall: probably...
Read moreDecided to stop by for dinner based on the great ratings. We had expected there would be a wait as the parking lot was quite full, but we were seated right away. The staff was great, with lots of attentive help and virtually no waiting for anything you needed. We ordered similar meals - Chicken Enchiladas and Chicken Burrito. The food arrived with only a short wait, but left us sadly disappointed. While the enchiladas and burrito had a large amount of moist filling, the pale colored sauce was nothing like any we have had before. It was very creamy, had no hint of any spices or heat, and it was unusually sweet. Looked and tasted exactly like condensed cream of tomato soup. Added to that, they were only lukewarm. Not the restaurant’s fault, but the ambience also made it difficult to enjoy our food. We were seated next to a couple with two young children. The tables are quite close to each other. I’m a grandmother of six, and know how hard it can be to dine with children. I can handle a two year old child jumping on a padded bench that is shared by everyone sitting along that wall. I can handle tossed shoes and some running around. What I had trouble with was that the parents had a phone propped up on the table playing a movie/video with the sound on throughout the entire meal. Added to the restaurant’s background music, it made it impossible to have any conversation at our table. While it wasn’t directly the fault of the restaurant, I kept waiting for one the staff to ask them to turn it off or mute it. Might have been tolerable if the...
Read moreMy partner and I had the pleasure of trying this restaurant tonight, one week after their opening. I was very happy with our experience here, and it exceeded my expectations across the board. Food was amazing, my parter and I agreed it entered our top for Mexican cuisine. I had the birria tacos, which i would highly recommend. Tacos were the perfect size, and the sauce was dense and flavorful. Skinny margarita was also delicious and extremely fresh, easily my favorite margarita I’ve had in a while. The service was great, they were friendly and attentive. Lastly I really enjoyed the overall atmosphere. Their “Luna” aesthetic sets them apart from other Mexican restaurants, while still paying homage to their heritage. Branded tableware shows the intention that was put into this restaurant, which I greatly appreciated. Will definitely be...
