Only Sinaloa — Restaurant in Adelanto

I had high expectations for this place considering it’s been all over social media. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The restaurant is clearly understaffed in the kitchen.

It took 1 hour just to get seated—not because there weren’t tables available, but because they were behind on orders for the customers already seated. Once we finally sat down, we ordered 2 tostadas mixtas, 1 coctel de camarón con pulpo, and a sushi roll to go. The waitress told us the sushi roll would take another hour to make, which I never ended up receiving.

It took another 40 minutes for our food to arrive. The tostadas mixtas were good, but the coctel was not. Another thing worth mentioning—there were no complimentary chips and salsa, something you typically expect at a sit-down Mexican restaurant. When I asked for their black hot sauce—the kind you usually see at Mexican seafood spots—the waitress said it would be an extra charge, which is ridiculous. I declined.

The plates for the tostadas were far too small, so the food was falling onto the table. By the time we finished eating, it had already been over an hour since we ordered and the sushi roll still wasn’t ready. The waitress checked with the kitchen three times over the next 15 minutes, but each time she came back with the same response: “They’re working on it.”

At that point, I’d had enough and asked her to cancel the sushi roll and bring the bill. Overall, it was a bad experience and I would not recommend it unless you want to spend three hours of your day here for...

On our way home from Mammoth Lakes, hungry for an early lunch, I read a review of Only Sinaloa that called it a "hidden gem". Anything with that characterization is where I want to eat, but I first had to look up the regional Mexican cuisine to see if I recognized anything, being at least well familiar with Sonoran food from a childhood in San Diego! We each ordered a Taco Gobernador and Taco al Camaron and we shared a pork tamale. We thought the Gobernador came with just cheese and veggies, but it had fried shrimp, which were delectable. The pork tamale, with its succulent, orange-tinted masa and vegetables (even an olive!), was so good we bought a dozen to take home (so our bill was higher than it would have been). A stop...

The waitresses need to focus on the customers instead of gossiping. If they would have seen the food they served me it had a long black hair in the sauce. My husband had to take the hair out bc I was disgusted. Too many flies in the restaurant. We asked for the bill while we were still finishing up, one of the waitresses 5 seconds later was shoving the card reader in our faces while we still had food in our hands eating.
