I live nearby and sometimes go in for dinner at the hotel. The last time I visited (at Bucky's lounge) nearly two hundred dollars was put onto my credit card when I paid in cash. I even gave a forty percent tip to the server (also in cash).
Weirdly, the mistake on my card started out as two separate charges, which didn't quite total the NEW incorrect charge, which appeared on my bill today, and the other two disappeared.
So . . . that is THREE mistakes, not one. I'm not sure how this sort of thing happens. Seems downright strange.
As of now, I've been on the phone for a collective time of over thirty minutes trying to straighten the matter out.
Nobody offered to give me any sort of coupon or comp for my time, either.
My advice to anyone who dines here is to be sure and consult your credit card bill on the bank website after you dine, particularly if you are a local.
If I hadn't, I would have paid nearly two hundred dollars for nothing.
Those who are not staying in the hotel will be asked for a credit card as collateral for sitting at a table (before they pay). My guess is that this sort of problem would not tend to happen for those staying at the hotel.
If I hadn't noticed the bogus charge on my card, then I would have gained thirty minutes of my valuable time (over two different days) by not sitting on hold with numerous people on the phone, none of whom were in the accounting department (which I asked for) . . . so I guess if I hadn't noticed the mistake, then it would have come out about even, considering what I charge per hour for my occupation, and how much time it has taken to straight out, ha.
This said, the view was great and the black bean fritters were quite good, with a house light "Mexican" beer that was extremely tasty, with a twist of lime. Can't beat that sunset view at Bucky's, with the palm trees and the fire pits and the horizon of bay water vanishing into twinkling lights in the...
Read moreBucky's Lounge at the Grand Hotel is a hidden gem! I recently had the pleasure of dining there, and it exceeded my expectations. My grilled chicken sandwich was a flavor explosion – perfectly cooked and packed with delicious ingredients. It was clear that they use high-quality ingredients and pay attention to detail. My son, a self-proclaimed oyster connoisseur, declared the char-grilled oysters at Bucky's the best he's ever had! That's a serious compliment, and it speaks volumes about the quality and preparation. But the food is only part of the experience. The view from Bucky's is absolutely breathtaking. Overlooking the hotel grounds and the bay, it's a truly spectacular setting. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal while taking in the stunning scenery. If you're staying at the Grand Hotel, or even if you're just in the area, Bucky's Lounge is a must-visit. The delicious food, exceptional oysters, and incredible views make it a truly memorable dining experience. I highly...
Read moreHubby and I stayed at the Grand Hotel last week and went to Bucky's for an after dinner cocktail. It is a fun, almost raucous atmosphere. Live music was great and festive - several people dancing. People watching is very entertaining. Only nicking them a bit on the service because no one did ask us for our order, so went up to the bar and ordered myself. Not a big deal as they were quite busy and eventually a waiter came by and apologized for the slow service so it's ok! Would definitely go back and next time will order food, as other customers food orders looked amazing. If you want to go somewhere fun, lively with music, great food and drinks, this is a...
