Ate at Ledgers for the first time in May and everything was absolutely wonderful. Because of that experience, my husband and I decided to celebrate our anniversary there Sunday night. We did not make reservations, but felt like getting there two hours before closing would give us plenty of time. When the hostess realized we did not have reservations, she advised that it would be approximately a 30 minute wait which is very minimal compared to most places. She did not offer a friendly response when she realized we were going to wait. Felt as if she was encouraging us to leave. She did the same thing with a party of three that came in after us. (Just seemed rude). Once they were ready to seat us, which didn’t seem long at all, we were walked through the restaurant and were sat on the Pub side. Was told Ledgers side is closed on Sunday nights. My fault for not knowing that ahead of time. Looks like she would have went ahead and directed us down the hall to the Pub, instead of having us wait in the lobby of the Ledgers. While eating our anniversary dinner in the Pub, we had the privilege of watching the staff clean the dining room around us, well before the 8:00 closing time. (We had eaten and left before 8). Although it was not the atmosphere we were anticipating, our waitress was super friendly and the food was great.

This review is based on the food, the service was fantastic. The grounds the restaurant is on, is exquisite, as is the seating area inside the restaurant as well. We had brunch, and it wasn’t very busy. For appetizers we had, loaded fries, ahi tuna, crab dip, and fried green tomato’s. For entrees I was able to sample the filet Benedict, prime rib Benedict, chicken and waffles, the red fish, and ribeye. The good: crab dip was good. The fried green tomatoes were some of the best I have had. The red fish was really good and the ribeye had a great sear and taste. The bad: The Benedict’s were some of the worst I have ever had, very little hollandaise, and the eggs were poached hard. The meat in the bennys were both overcooked to death. Chicken and waffles were lacking spice. The tuna was bland and the fires were a soggy mess.

This saddens me to redact my previous review of Ledgers but the food has been nothing like 6 months ago. My last four visits have been horrendous. The steak quality has been tough and way too fatty. The style of grilling has changed drastically and the meat has a grease like taste which is not pleasant to eat at all. The “hand battered” fried shrimp taste like frozen bag shrimp with a tough texture. The loaded cheese fries tasted old and undercooked. I sent them back and a new order came. The new order was hot but still tasted stale. All of the pictures are from 6 months ago so if you go compare your food to mine and you should see a major difference. I hope the owner finds this review and fixes the issues because the building is beautiful and Cullman needs a good quality steakhouse.

Upon arrival we were seated fairly quick. After getting seated we waited approximately 15 minutes before being treated by a waitress. I asked who our waitress was going to be she said she was and her name was Kayla. We told her we a party of four would like to go ahead and order. We then ordered after about 15 minutes our appetizer came we were sitting there eating enjoying ourselves. When a lady walked up to our table and ask if everything was ok. We said yes we’re fine. She then stated that the hostess said we had a problem. We said no not us must be another table. She then said no it’s y’all and pointed out my wife saying the hostess said my wife said something to her when going to the bathroom. My wife never spoke to no one when she went to the bathroom. I said dammit man we’re here to eat and enjoy our self. We’ve done been here an hour and twenty five minutes She then looked at me and said sir sir doubt cuss at me. I told her I wasn’t cussing at her I was at the situation. Other people in the restaurant heard all this and told us they were embarrassed for us. We never said anything to anyone or anything bad about the restaurant. We were just all talking having conversation with one another and enjoying the music. Our friend sitting across from us said every time we said something to our waitress she would roll her eyes behind us. Why I have no idea. Before all this happened I was sitting there listing to the music when the hostess came by our table and literally gave me the meanest look, I didn’t say a word to anyone non the less wish I would have. Then when I ask the lady speaking to us in a very unprofessional tone and the way she pointed out my wife. Who the manager was she stated she was. I then asked who the owner was and she stated she runs ledgers no one is above her she run this place. What should have been a great dinning experience turned out to be one of the most embarrassing experience I’ve ever encountered. We own three bussiness and would never treat any customer like this. As we were leaving the waitress thought we had all left but I was still at the table as my wife and friends had went. As I started to leave I seen and heard the waitress talking and laughing with a lady cleaning at and about my wife and friends. After we got outside another party of four people said they were also treated poorly and also seen and overheard what had happened to us. They said they would never be back. We nor our friends who we brought for their first time said they will never be...

My wife and I went for brunch on Sunday 6/22/25. We went early, at 10:30 to start off our wedding anniversary celebration. London was our server and she was fantastic. Great personality and really piled it on with genuine conversation. I noticed her doing that with other tables, as well and she seemed to be getting the same appreciation from those guests, as well. She is, without any question, the best server that we’ve had in north-central Alabama. This was our first time here and many reviews mentioned the salad bar. We are not salad bar people, but it was, indeed, an impressive salad bar. It is the main decoration feature when you enter the dining room, right in the center. I thought that was weird, but if that is what you are after, you’ll love it. I had the prime rib French dip, which was better than one would think a hot sandwich would be, though the presentation was not great (smooshed and griddle grease on the top of the bread). I’m a big fan of French dips and always order one when I see it on the menu. I travel across the country for work and have had hundreds. I rank Ledgers’ French dip in the top 5 of all time (Nothing compares to the French Dip at Hillstone in Scottsdale). Anyway, it was solid and the steak fries were also quite good. My wife ordered pancakes with bacon and a side of scrambled eggs with cheese. She enjoyed everything, though she really was interested in the chicken and waffles, which they did not have available for some reason. We also had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, which was a huge order (8 thick slices) and they were really, really good. I ordered a Moscow mule to drink, which was quite good. My wife ordered a poinsettia, which the bartender mistook for a vodka and cranberry, but it was quickly corrected. I won’t say what it was, but we were given a complementary gift for our anniversary that was unexpected and very appreciated. Overall, our experience was exceptional, with London being the real key to the experience. We will definitely be back. If anyone reading this is worried about some of the steak reviews, I cannot comment on the steaks, as I’ve never had a steak here. However, please notice that many of the lower rated steak reviews are from people ordering well-done steaks. As a 25 year veteran of the restaurant business, my belief is that if one orders the kitchen to destroy the very dish that the establishment is known for, one gets what one deserves. By disregarding such reviews, I had my best service experience in...

Haven’t eaten there as of yet. A 50 year class reunion tonight. 8/10/24. We drove a long way for this event and certainly don’t want to be let down on this supposedly fine dining restaurant. TBD! I’ve edited my review Ron to a 4 star. The reunion went off with a blast! This was my wife’s Vinemont reunion and she was glad to see ole friends, that was important. Now Ledgers! Atmosphere: What I saw was nice. I did see live music. They’ve invested well for the community for participating events. Service: Kind-of what I expected. A big group can cause some chaos at times. But handled well by the staff and guest. Nothing to elaborate. Food: Ron, I’ve eaten in some 5+ star restaurants. Your salad bar is up to par for salad bars. There were enough items available on your bar for some to use as their main course and be well satisfied. I had your 16oz. Delmonico ribeye steak. Unfortunately, for the price the steak came up short on presentation and chew. It had zero juices at service. Meaning; no juice at all on my plate or warmth. My guess, cooked early and sat on rack. If I’m wrong, something needs to be addressed. Bake potato was good, nothing special. Today, restaurants can get away with inflated prices on meals. All restaurants! I read reviews on restaurants during my travels to get a feel of what I’m headed into. Ledgers was good food, but nothing over the top. Ron, it’s obvious you are concerned about your restaurant and read feedback/reviews. Otherwise, I’m almost certain you had one motive to greet and pinpoint this reviewer. Thanks for reading my feedback. One meal doesn’t un-qualify a good restaurant. Next time I might do...
