We have never felt so UNWELCOME at any restaurant, EVER as we were made to feel here today. We arrived at around 1:40 and apparently, they close at 2:00 PM. Although, there are no hours posted on the door where the days of the week are posted and the hours are not posted but, we knew they closed early. We went there to try the panini's although, Thursdays are a special baked potato day, only baked potatoes. We both thought this sounded heavy for a late lunch but, ok we will adjust since we wanted to try this place. When our food was ready at nearly 2:00 PM, we were sitting at a communal style table, drinking our water and tea and she plopped our food down in front of us in a to-go bag. Thinking perhaps she misheard us, I asked, and she said you can stay but we are closed. Ok, a hot lunch to go, is not what we wanted. We both felt a very cold unwanted feeling and that she wanted us to leave. Forty dollars, inclusive of a tip for lunch and go eat in your car, don't let the door hit you is exactly how we felt. After being stunned by the complete lack of awareness or southern hospitality, we concluded we were not welcome and should leave. This is literally the worst we have been treated by anyone, at any establishment since our arrival to Mobile on February 1st of 2025. In my eyes, if they were closing and us eating there was going to be an issue, perhaps a warning such as, we are closing our doors promptly at 2:00 and we can make your order but, it will have to be a to go order. I would have simply opted to eat somewhere else and tried them again another day. Instead, we were forced to eat in my wife's car who has never allowed food in her car since day 1 in 2015. This was a hot meal, and we still had things to do after lunch. We ate our food in the parking lot and were done by 2:05 and gone by 2:06. Both my wife and I have concluded, we will never return. People should understand when they make people feel this way, they lose a customer, and he / me writes reviews for everywhere we do business on both Yelp and Google to share with others. Perhaps the owner will feel about this review like she made my wife, and I feel in her place of business. We eat out 3-5 (breakfast, lunch and / or dinners) times per week so my comment of ever in the beginning says a great deal. We have scratched this place off our list of restaurants. For the owner, you literally ruined our great day we were having. Thanks for nothing. Maybe this is a one off, maybe not, but we are not even willing for a second chance after being treated this way. I will typically give three chances for any place to make a better impression, but this place crossed a line that can't be uncrossed.
Oh, the food, it was two stuffed baked potatoes for forty...
Read moreFirst let me say I've been meaning to try this cute little cottage for quite some time. I finally decided today was the day. For those of us who live in West mobile or Midtown, there is a scenic drive to the cottage. It's no more than 15 - 20 minutes, just relax and enjoy the ride.
As soon as you pull into the driveway, you see this cute cottage. But not until you're inside, do you realize, this is a such a gem.
Because we're still dealing with Covid-19, there is a sign on the door kindly asked did you wear a mask.
Once inside, you notice a beautiful sitting area, coffee bar, a larger seating area, and an area set aside for unique and delicious treats.
Meredith and Lisa are so welcoming. The cottage had just a warm vibe and they're customer service was exceptional.
Reney's offers their packaged togo butters in a refrigerated case. I was so impressed to see they offered other items, in the same case, from local businesses and small business in the South. Such a generous thing to do.
I placed my order for the Chocolate Banana bread and they recommended Toffee butter. I picked up a coffee Velvet Ice Latte from PJ's Coffee (Spanish Fort, AL) out of the refrigerated case.
Let's go ahead and jump into this Banana bread and Toffee butter. WOW!! Yes, the warm banana bread was great. It was moist, delicious, full of flavor, incredible!! But let me tell you about this Toffee butter, it was so light with little bits of toffee in the butter. I carefully, with reservation, spread a small amount atop this incredible slice of banana bread. The first bite, what the what!!! I decided to go for it. Grabbed the knife and did what I know you would do, scooped, yes scooped, a dollop of butter onto the bread and leap to my feet in a happy dance. The butter paired with the bread will make you want to take a step back or let's say a step towards the butter to spread more on top of that bread. Yummy!!
I decided while I was there to support some of the other local businesses by purchasing more than a few items. Cue the pictures :-)
I didn't notice until I got in the car to place my bags on the seat, a message "Keep Smiling" was written on the bag with my banana biread. Thanks Lisa.
I'm wrapping up this review because I'm going to the park to run 3.5 miles to burn off this Banana bread and Toffee Butter but it...
Read more10 out of 10 out of 10! Meredith customer service takes the cake. Two weeks ago I was searching town for cinnamon rolls. Someone suggested Reneys. I called to double check and was greeted by the most jolly spirit. She told me they only have them on Fridays but gave me a heads up of the cookies and creme flavor dropping on 10/31/25. I was so excited when she told me that and her excitement made me even more excited lol. Fast forward to today, I just finished the cinnamon roll and man it was soooooooo good, soft, and very fresh. The chocolate ganache spread inside it was delicious also. Meredith had the same energy over the phone in person. I'll...
