This was our first time at the Alaskana Social Club. I had been to Meier lake for work retreats, a yoga weekend so I was familiar with the area but when we entered the main building I knew immediately I was in for something special. The menu was diverse allowing anyone to find the cocktail or shareable plate they are looking for. The Dilly Dilly pairs wonderfully with the carrot and zucchini fritters. Each fritter had smoked salmon, fresh micro greens and a dollop of lemon kelp aioli. The new fresh sheet just came out today. We ordered the elk, bolognese with freshly grated parmigiana cheese and garlic bread hits all the right notes. My partner ordered the cider belly skewers on a bed a fresh purple cabbage and delicious maple glaze. The service was excellent and the view was spectacular. After our meal we got a tour of the building. There are plans for a speak easy downstairs.
We took our drinks out side after the meal to sit lakeside and bask in the beauty of Hatcher Pass. Big band classics played in the background as we watched Arctic Terns dart above the water across the shore. The fire pit was lit and the smell of perfectly dried pine filled the air. This is the perfect destination for a night with friends, a work party, or retreat from the daily grind. I will...
Read moreGreat restaurant tucked away near the base of Hatcher Pass at Meier Lake. This was our third visit but first time under the new rebranding.
We tried all 6 house cocktails. Arkose, Fairangel, and Devil's Club were the fan favorites. Dilly Dally with the snap pea flavor was a pleasant surprise. The Monolith was too gin-y and the Skyscraper was too whiskey-y. The bartender, who wet met on our last visits, was amazing at his craft.
We tried everything on the menu except for snack mix and olives because we ran out of room. The salmon dip needed more smokiness, otherwise all was good. Fan favorites were the pickled veggies (giardiniera) and Arancini.
Overall a great dinner spot to hit up for weekend evening from Anchorage or after a visit to Matanuska Glacier or Hatcher Pass. Beautiful views of the lake and mountains. Great staff and owners.
Highly recommend. It's definitely a hidden gem with...
Read moreDate night! My partner and I had a really lovely experience at Alaskana. We made a reservation and our table was ready to go when we got there. First we started with drinks and they were amazing! Fresh, full of flavor, and intentionally crafted. I really liked being able to see what was happening at the bar and how things were being made. There is so much to try but we settled with the salmon dip with pickled and fresh veggies and house made crackers! Yummm! Then for our entree to share we chose the ak beef burger with fries.. classic. And they did not disappoint. The bun and great choices of cheese were spot on. For dessert we had the chocolate crÚme burle⊠I was tickled. The whole time we had a beautiful view of the lake and were surrounded by familiar and smiling faces. Prices were reasonable for the quality of locally sourced food. We cant wait...
