My husband and i have frequented this place over the years. At first we had decent food, over the last year or two we have noticed a downward trend in service and food. We used to be regulars for saturday breakfast, loved their eggs benny, but after getting LARGE egg shells 🤢, not once, not twice, but 3 different occasions we stopped getting breakfast. We waited a couple months before returning, and went in for dinner. Husband got a burger and i tried their mexican orange chicken. Burger was burnt and crumbling and my chicken had to be sent back because it was completely raw the first time and then they microwaved it to finish cooking it. Nothing like rubbery chicken 😂 Last night was a final straw for us unfortunately. We went in, only one other table, it took 20 minutes for our orders to be taken, and then we waited some more. About 40 minutes later, the waitress came back and told us the chef lost our ticket, could she retake our orders and he would make them a priority. No biggie, accidents happen so we reordered. Another 20 minutes pass and we finally get our food, and husband had the wrong dish brought out. 🙄 when the waitress came back, she was very sorry, said she would comp the meal, because it was their mistake, whatever, again mistakes happen. When we got the check, we paid full price for everything, nothing was comped. Bad experience. Sadly service was by the owners. Live and...
Read moreOut of four meals ordered only ONE was correct. My friend ordered a club sandwich on rye and got a BLT. My wife and I ordered beef Chimichangas and asked if they came with shredded beef or ground beef and the server said yes they are with shredded beef. Well when we got them they where ground beef. :-( At that time we also noticed that there were beans in the chimichangas and being from Tucson, Arizona where the chimichanga was invented I have never heard of putting beans in them. Not only that but the plate comes with beans and rice. So in other words about 2/3 of the meal was beans (when I say that, I mean that, the chimichangas barely had any beef but ALOT of beans). Being from Arizona and knowing great mexican food there is a big difference from what people call chimichangas here and there and I understand but I asked for anchilada sauce over top (thats how it always comes in Az) and they charged $1.50 per plate and there was barely any on it. Another thing wrong with the chimichangas was there has a little bit of sour cream but no guacamole which it normally would have. The waitress did take it back and get us shredded beef rather than ground beef. I really feel that they fill them with pretty much all beans for cost purposes which is crazy at $14+ a plate. The bathrooms were nasty also. The one order they got right was my sons jalapeño burger. Never going back and dont...
Read moreMy friend and I drove from Wasilla to sheep Creek lodge. Sheep Creek Lodge was closed for spring cleaning. On the way back to Wasilla, we decided we’d stop in big Lake and have breakfast at big Lake restaurant. It was early afternoon and the waitress was really pleasant. As we waited I observed the atmosphere. My eye caught several things that certainly needed attention. We placed our order and my friend ordered eggs Benedict. Imitation crab ham tomato on a soggy English muffin. During our order she had asked for a crispy English muffin and crispy fries. Neither of those items were described as crispy. The bread was soggy and limp. The potatoes were barely browned. My breakfast was exactly as ordered. I noticed that there were some cleaning chores that should have been done. When you’re sitting at a table with your placemats out condiments out and waiting for your order you can’t help it notice what’s going on around the table? Photos of what we observed. Our local restaurants are the heartbeat of our valley. The owner should take more pride in the product coming to you, clean hot and fresh. Broken down bench seats that made you feel like you were sinking to the floor. Overall. it’s sad because when you remember the place that was decent to eat and then all of a sudden you see this it’s very...
