So how do i even begin, okay we walk in cool restaurant, we had to make a reservation for 6pm and we were sat at 7:30, i tried to give them time because it was packed and loud, we sat down me and my wife were sat in a two table with not even enough space to have both our food, we ordered a combo with prime rib, let me start with the prime rib, i asked for well cooked came back medium rare, i don’t mind either or so i took it like a man and ate it; my first bite genuinely made me want to throw up, its stringy cold meat, we told the waiter who looked like a 16 year old girl, she apologized and we said its not her fault, my wife got a lobster combo, she loved lobster and has tried lobster all over the world, she immediately said it was horrible, at this point we’re already disappointed and hungry, to find out everything is frozen, five guys dosent even sell frozen meat, it’s crazy how you need reservations for horrible food and even worse atmosphere, 80% of the people seemed disappointed in the restaurant and we can tell why, my wife looked at me and all we can do is laugh cause we already ordered and couldn’t just leave, next my order came with potatoes and i think rice? the rice was so hard it’s crazy, the potato was mildly honestly the only good thing about this whole experience, i read reviews saying it’s not how it used to be and i believe it, the downfall of this restaurant is gonna happen and honestly ill be glad because right when we left and got into the car my wife felt so nauseous, saved the best part for last she ended up in the hospital for food poisoning, the raw meat to the cold lobster, the servers were nice they obviously have no control over the food, once we sat down everything was dirty it’s truly unbelievable i’ve been debating writing this for days because i’ve been helping my wife with her bad stomach that lasted two days and she couldn’t eat anything, end of the story don’t come here unless you want to waste 400 dollars on cold frozen food, everything tasted frozen it’s actually...
Read moreI only give this place 1 star because you can not leave no stars. This place was referred as one of the best places to eat close to Fairbanks. We called and made a reservation like suggested, we arrived and sat down to if you can believe paper placemats that double as menus for the limited items they prepare. The tables at plastic picnic tables with a table cover over it. The prices here are outrageous for the quality of the food they serve and the salad bar is a joke. The prime rib looks like just boiled meat the guy at the next table said that's what it tasted like so we did not order that but did not fare any better. My wife only ordered 2 appetizers, fried ravioli and cheese stix, the ravioli were so hard, crunchy and over cooked she only ate 1 and the cheese stix were already lukewarm at best and the cheese had already hardened. I ordered the Halibut Chunks and as the picture shows 4 little chunks that tasted like frozen Morten fish stix from a box and a dry baked potato that was at room temperature the butter did not even melt when it was mixed in. Keep in mind this place opens at 6pm and our reservation was at 6pm so why was the food already cold and horrible. The server was very polite but I can not justify paying almost 60 dollars for this level of quality. We paid and left and stopped at the Silver Gulch right up the road and ate there where the food was awesome. At out hotel we were discussing the Turtle Club with someone else whom had eaten there the day before and they were dissatisfied as well so we passed the word around to others we visited with and saved them the heartache and headache from the Turtle Club. The hotel staff told us they were sorry if we would have asked them they would have not recommended it because they have gotten so many complaints in the past...
Read moreWe came here with our Alaskan tour guide, as this place is THE local spot.
The interior is neatly decorated, kind of frozen in time as a retro dinner (they have been around since the 1950s). The service was great! I really appreciate our waitress, who canceled an appetizer order I requested super speedily for me, and served our large group all our dishes and desserts attentively. I could see she was a little overwhelmed, so I really appreciate her efforts!
Their salad bar had a great selection of ingredients, sauces and toppings, all which were fresh! I ordered their smallest prime rib cut, the Foxy Cut, which is 12oz! It was absolutely delicious!! My first prime rib, and it was perfectly seasoned, cooked a perfect medium rare, and was super tender. I had a baked potato as my side, which also hit the spot. I definitely had leftovers, and took those back to my lodge.
Our server then brought out the dessert plate, and OMG were we ever spoiled for choice! I got the Snickersbar Pie, which was so luscious and chocolatey!
This place is great spot to dine amongst the locals! I’d love to try their Alaskan King Crab legs next time I go (I’m just not sure how I’d finish them all on my own, my fiancé will have to help me!), as well as their crème brûlée. I definitely recommend this place for large, hearty and scrumptious...
