Little Tokyo Restaurant/ Little Tokyo Lounge — Restaurant in Albemarle

The Little Tokyo on Leonard drive in Albemarle, NC by the Golds Gym went above and beyond for me even though it was suuuuuper late! They deserved a large tip that was given! The other Little Tokyo that I was at way earlier told me that they didn't want to make anymore sushi but the young dirty blonde checkout lady who wasn't at fault told me that she would ask and she came back and said they were out of rice! I heard from a few friends that they've done that quite a bit because they don't want to make it. How do you run out of rice when the vast majority of the menu is Sushi! I knew someone pulled my leg! Well thank you to the checkout lady that handed me a menu and gave me directions to the other one that was closing in 10 mins but they lost a big tip because if they would've since it was 30 mins before closing but I would've still been thankful. It worked out great for me because I went to the other and I called and they were delighted to help me out! They were SO friendly and just really helped me and my phone had died that I needed for directions to Winston Salem and they even let me charge it until they all left later! Juzt beyond helpful seriously, they even informed me of their app and told me they delivered near our lakehouse which is kind of far! We have always gone to the one by Wal-Mart but now I my family will ALWAYS choose the helpful staff at the other that is further away but that earn every dollar they make beyond the call of duty 😁😉PLEASE SUPPORT THIS AMAZING STAFF THEY DESERVE GREAT TIPS ALL YEAR ROUND! It is worth the extra 6 minute drive away from the other that really disappointed me. And the restaurant is beautiful inside with an awesome bar that the other doesn't have and the lights are so cool all around the inside! Best sushi I've had in my entire life, no exaggeration there! Give them the TIPS they DESERVE IT! The boss is great & you can tell by his staff that he knows what he's doing in the hiring department and around his kitchen! Im telling you...Try it out, you will be glad you did! They DEFINITELY earned a lifelong customer and many more in my large family that visits Lake Tillery! Whew 😩😂that was me being long winded HAHAHA! But it was well deserved this is the only review I ever REALLY wanted to give! My tummy is so happy I would drive two hours just to go again I LOVED IT! I had such a bad experience here this month and will never eat here again in my life. We came in to eat aroud 6:30 pm on a Thursday. It is such small building that it was pretty packed. Go figure we'd be seated by a table of 10 middle aged women who were intoxicated. This group was being way to loud and disorderly and literaly ruined my meal. They were talking dirty, yelling, getting up and slapping each oters butts right in front of our table. All the while waitresses walk by and say nothing to them, the manager walked around their table twice and said nothing. I then decide to say something because no one else was brave enough. When i tell the ladys I dont care to have to hear their conversation the s**t hits the fan! One lady ends up screaming and cursing at. Still no staff comes to deal with the situation. I end up getting up to leave and the lady yells and curses at me again and words are exchanged again. I continue walking up front and the lady comes after me and throws a beer bottle at my back and breaks it. I'm soaked in beer of course and the staff still doesnt come to help the situation. They dont even make the lady or her group leave. I ended up calling the cops and they come and the staff acts like they have no clue what happened. while im trying to talk to the cops about pressing charges the manager can't even be polite and let me finish my statement for the police and instead says oh you havent even paid yet, it'll be $29.95. doesnt even apologize to me and said i should have came to hi about the situation. I replied he walked around their table multiple times and that he could have said something the. His excuse for not doing so is that he wasnt paying attention. I will never spend another penny i this establishment after being so disrespected. They allowed 10 intoxicated women treat their customers so bad. I mean there were children present in this restraunt and like i said they still let the group stay after the one lady was arrested. I recently dined here with another couple and a friend. The following day, I noticed an additional charge of $96.03 from the restaurant on my bank account, on top of my actual bill.

When I called to report the issue, I was told that our waitress had mistakenly charged me for another table’s bill but that the charge had been voided and should correct itself. I monitored my account daily, but the refund never appeared.

When I called back, the manager, Tabitha, reviewed the transactions and explained that while the waitress had processed a refund, she had issued it as cash rather than returning it to my card. By her own admission, it looked as though the waitress had refunded the money to herself. I was assured the matter would be resolved once the owner/bookkeeper returned from vacation and that I would be contacted.

A week later, after still hearing nothing, I called again and was told by Tabitha that she was surprised the owner had not reached out, since they had my contact information. At this point, I have disputed the charge with my bank and contacted local authorities about what appears to be a fraudulent transaction.

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Beyond the risk of fraudulent charges and mishandling of customer information, the food itself was mediocre at best. What should have been a $30 meal turned into a $96.03 headache—not worth the risk. If I could give zero...
