This was our first time experiencing the Albion Alehouse. We've been wanting to try out somewhere new in the area but were drawing blanks on where to go. Thanks to googles suggestions on maps, we gave them a shot.
The Abion Alehouse wasn't hard to find, however if you blink you may miss it. Lol. First off, it's a bar, no one under 21 allowed in. They have 1 pool table and a digital jukebox. The bathrooms are clean, small, 2 separate stalls and one is handicapped.
Our server came right over when we sat down n brought our drinks. I really liked the menu n the choices. We loved the fact that they use Albright's ground beef!!! It's the only ground beef I will buy at home!! So we ordered cheese curds as an appetizer. They didn't make it to the table until our food came out, which defeats the purpose of an app. However, the curds were street fair good! They never got hard, even the few left over ones we ate as we were leaving didn't turn hard, surprisingly. Very good curds!!
I ordered the boneless honey bbq wings, fries, n coleslaw. ( The chicken itself was fabulous, but it was drenched in bbq sauce. Way to much sauce n there was no honey to it. The bbq sauce was to strong. In fact I couldn't eat it, it burnt the top of my tongue from the spices n tangy-ness of the sauce. The fries were, eh ok. The coleslaw was fabulous!! Whomever made that deserves a pat on the back. )
My bf ordered the chophouse burger with tots. ( The burger was great!! It was juicy, had lots of flavor, it had like a unique mayo. Was very very good. It had great flavor!!! The tots were a bit over cooked or cooked in old oil.)
I thought the prices were reasonable. The service was really good, no complaints there. I brought almost all my food home so my kids could eat it. They won't mind the tons of bbq sauce. Lol.
Will probably try them out again but either get sauce on the side or I'll try a burger...
Read moreMy experience at Albion Alehouse almost left me in tears. I could start with the snarky waitress who made a rude comment when I had a question about a side dish. I could start with the staff and customers who laughed when I fell down. I'm disabled and fall frequently. I also have scars on my face that the people at the bar couldn't stop staring at. I'll start with the food. I ordered a grilled chicken breast sandwich. I wasn't going to eat the bun so I just cut up the chicken. The chicken was so dry that I couldn't eat it without choking on it. I ended up spitting two bites back on the plate. I ate one pickle for lunch. My friend ordered the tenderloin with no mayonnaise. If Reddi-whip were mayonnaise than an entire bottle was emptied on this tenderloin. Both of our meals were unedible. The waitress never came to check how our meals were. She did manage to laugh again the second time I fell. I did appreciate the customers at the table behind us. They were understanding that there was a reason I was falling. I would highly recommend you stay away from this establishment if you have any kind of disease, disorder, disability, or just some fun quirk. My reviewed can be summed up in one sentence: My experience at Albion Alehouse was bad food with ignorant and discriminating staff...
Read moreDecent place to have dinner and drinks in Albion. In fact, it's probably the BEST place to do so in Albion, though that's not saying a whole lot considering how small Albion is and how few options there are.
The loaded fries were delicious, though $6.50 for the portion size that are in the attached picture definitely seems pricey in my book.
A tall draft (pint) was $5, and I felt like the nutty porter was just 'ok' and wouldn't have been very palatable once it warmed up a bit.
I ended up getting the blueberry blonde, which didn't actually have any taste of blueberry, but was a little bit sweet, which was nice.
The Long Island that my brother had was decent - sufficiently strong, though it didn't actually taste particularly good either.
And the general atmosphere was actually quite chatty and noisy, which is unexpected considering the calm exterior of the building with tinted windows that you can't see in, which makes the place look kind of deserted from the outside. (But on the plus side, I'm sure that the tinted windows help guard against the sun for anybody sitting in the front of the restaurant.)
Bottom line, the word I keep coming to is "decent"...
