Drizzle Ice Cream of Alburtis — Restaurant in Alburtis

Great ice cream, especially Penn State brand. However, if you go to this shop and get in line to order, you are interrupted by the online orders. That is to say, they prepare ice cream dishes for people who ordered online AFTER you have arrived while you stand there and watch them fill internet orders. One evening, there weren’t that many people in line at the store when I arrived and joined the line ( in the store) and I waited one half hour for 2 dishes of ice cream for my wife and I. I am 73 years old and can’t stand for that long without discomfort. I went home and vowed to never return. However, later that week, as an experiment, I placed our order online. We immediately left our house which is 10 minutes away and on arrival our ice cream order was ready and waiting in an upright freezer toward the front of the store. So, if you order online, quick service. If you drive there and order in the store, you are penalized and made to wait a half hour. This is a one unorganized ice cream business. Suggestion, have 2 servers behind the counter dedicated to internet orders ONLY! Have 2-3 more servers dedicated to inside sales only. If inside business slows and internet picks up, pull the inside sales people over to the internet line but as soon as a new customer walks in, immediately acknowledge that customer and wait on them. The 2 dedicated online people can finish that job. Same thing when internet sales have a lull, pull those people off and have them help the inside sales. If both crews slow down, have them clean tables and floors. Also, you need an on-site ADULT manager at all times to manage the teen employees you have working there. If you develop a system that works, you may have a business that would be franchisable, but with your present business model, I can’t see that happening. Take a look at what Chick-fil-A and Dunkin are doing. They have a good system for keeping the line moving. Go there as a customer and observe. You should be getting 4 and 5 star reviews, not 3. I wanted to give you a 5 as your product is great, presentation is beautiful, but your execution needs vast improvement. I hope...

I stopped into Drizzles Thursday night and was met with a long line. It was a gorgeous night and while in line I learned of a fundraiser going on for the EHS V-Ball team so the long line was to be expected. I was a bit hesitant to try as a previous time we visited it seemed to take en excessive amount of time to receive our order, but the line seemed to be moving fairly quickly. When we reached the front the young man taking orders was very friendly and thorough. We ordered a few avalanches for my family and decided to take them to go since there were limited seating options at the time. I waited along the wall to watch for my order being made since it was very loud inside the building. Unfortunately, it took forever for my order to be made. The one young man with dark hair did not seem to have a clue of what he was doing. He moved at a snail’s pace and he wrongfully made at least one of my items which resulted in an even longer wait time. I watched as my avalanches were left to sit and melt while I waited for the rest of the order. There was a young woman working who seemed to be much more focused and was providing ice cream to multiple people who had ordered after me. Upon asking the young man making my order if I could at least take my few items that were already made (and melting) so my family didn’t have to eat soup, the young man just stared at me and then walked away. I also noticed that our items seemed to be underfilled, but decided against asking for a remake because by this point my family was getting tired and I was aggravated at how long everything was taking. I am highly disappointed with the service and ice cream I received. I visit Drizzles at least every month or so and have never had as much of a problem. With the amount I paid for my ice cream, I expect it to not be melted at the very least. I’d also expect an ice cream parlor to be able to handle some of the extra business that warm nights bring out. With my experience I do not think I will be returning to Drizzle’s anytime soon. Went there yesterday for some Ice Cream with family and friends. Looked like they were closed almost passed by. But than we noticed a dim light in the distance. The shop was open but would not let us in the store. It was a very large store with the actually counter at least 20 feet away. We all had our masks. There were 7 if us. We opened the door amd asked for thier flavors. They brought out a menu which did not included thier flavors. We stood at the door talking to them. They said we were not allowed in, all orders were taking over the phone. I said well, theres alot of us all with different flavors and toppings. I asked can we give you our ider from here? They said no please call. We proceeded to call with our order when she couldn't hear us. Funny we were right outside. Than we had ti call them back from a different phone. Finally 15 minutes of ordering. Than they would not take cash. Another 10 minutes giving them the card numbers for purchase. A shame, Ice Cream was good. A guy drive up in the car and asked for a menu. The said they didn't have anymore menus. That guy drive off. Even thou Ice Cream was good, I'm not bothering with all that non sense again. Way to much hassle here. Don't see them staying in...
