Great Wall Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Alexandria

I ordered to-go while I was there at 11:05am and had a short wait of about 10 minutes. The place was clean with plenty of parking and tables. I ordered 3 items which I will rate. First, the Garlic chicken lunch special with vegetable fried rice and a pork egg roll. The garlic chicken rates 10/10. While it's similar to many others, it tasted quite fresh and included nice sized mushrooms, which I love and the chicken had nice flavor and texture. The fried rice rates 8/10. Also similar to many, there was no egg in it, I prefer egg but I'm not going to complain too much. The pork egg roll rates 8/10. Similar to many, could've been crispier but the filling was well balanced with pork and cabbage and was tasty. The fried dumplings rates 8/10. Again, similar to many. The dough was a bit chewy at the ends BUT the filling was tastier than many others I've tried and the sauce was good with the right amount of sweet to savory ratio. Finally, the pork lo-mein. 10/10. I’m staying in Summitville for a while (pops passed away & im renovating his house) & there isn’t a darn thing to eat in this town besides Pizza king (which is ridiculously overpriced btw) so we decided to take a chance on Great Wall one night. We weren’t expecting much since the middle of nowhere indiana isn’t exactly known for their Asian cuisine! & I’m very happy we did because this place hit the mark & then some. Great food all around. It’s become a staple in our routine to the point where we spend close to $100 and just eat leftovers for days because it’s that good that you can eat it daily! They also have egg rolls.. not just spring rolls! Which seems like a no brainer.. but it’s not. Lol. I’ve been working my way down the menu trying everything & so far I have yet to try something I wouldn’t order again. Even the dishes with seafood are very tasty & I’m not much of a fan of it unless I’m back home in New Orleans. Love...

I so wanted to love this place. First, the positives. Portions are large. Friendly staff. Delicious rice.

Now for why I gave them one star. I ordered Orange Chicken. Sauce was delicious , but the dish was swimming in it. It was made from dark meat with too much breading and the meat was tough and chewy.

I ordered dumplings. Again the meat tasted funny and the outside dumpling was chewy. My family would not eat their food either.
