Cinco de Mayo Restaurant — Restaurant in Algona

This was a pretty dang good Mexican restaurant, especially for the Midwest!

Servers were great. Very friendly with kids and always helpful. They had a decent beer selection, clean bathrooms, and good food. With a little extra time and care, their dishes would be perfect. I highly recommend the carnitas, along with getting queso for the chips.

I personally like a little more authenticity, but I totally get reeling it back a bit for the local taste (I came from the Midwest originally, most people are afraid of foreign things).

Also, I heard from the women in the group that there are no locks on the stalls in their restrooms. Please install them!

Usually a pretty reliable option. Tonight, rice was dry and crunchy. Someone in my party received an EXTREMELY and very obviously obliterated soggy taco. Waiter did not know the elements that came with the dish I ordered and somewhat argued when I asked where a missing item was. I asked for shredded cheese on another item of my dish and there were two layers of cheese one melted and another dry layer, another indicator that no one knew what the dish consisted of— hint… it didn’t originally come with cheese. Chicken was extremely dry. While paying the bill the gentleman at the counter asked how the food was. After saying it was not good he laughed which was mildly… actually extremely infuriating. Algona is running out of food...

Me and my fiancé went to Cinco de Mayo last night to start out our New Years Eve celebration after our hotel clerk recommended it and let me tell you it was the best restaurant experience that we have had in a very long time. We were seated very fast, our waiter was the most friendliest person that I have seen in a very long time, our food was at our table less then ten minutes after we ordered, our glasses were never empty, and it was a very good price for the two of us. The restaurant was not crowded and was a very relaxing atmosphere and very clean!!! I would recommend this place anytime and we will definitely be taking the hour drive to come...
