El Jardin Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Allendale

Went to this place on eclipse day 2017. To our dismay, we found a Mexican restaurant in a very tiny town in the middle of nowhere South Carolina. We were starved and and when we found this place, my husband and I looked at each other skeptically. He's from California and I'm from Texas. Tiny Town South Carolina Mexican food was not quite what we expected but there was no other visible restaurant, so we went in. I am VERY impressed! It was delicious! This from a Mexican food connoisseur! I've had California and Texas Mexican and both ARE authentic. It's just regional, just like American cooking. This one though was Texas Mexican and was very good. Great spot to eat in the middle of nowhere. I love small towns like these! Used to live in one and wish...

Wow... Super Impressed. First of all, this place hasnt received a bad review in a year or two. Secondly, it is located in a very small town which regulated and humbled my expectations. Largest food places around here may be Subway and Hardee's. When I first walked in I was happily greeted and immediately brought to my booth. Brought our chips and salsa which are both good. Took my order (Carnitas Plate) and it came out really fast! Here is the suprising part... it was HOT...it was FRESH... and it was GOOD. Ive literally travelled all over the world and this has to be one of the best Carnitas I have ever had. Everything else on the plate was delightful. I highly recommend and wish this place the best of...

Very dissatisfied. Had read all the reviews that said this place was great....well it's not!. Chips tasted stale, hot sauce was bland, they charged me $1. for some butter without telling me they were charging me. I ordered the #1 combination dinner, the taco was soggy when the food arrived. It came with a taco and 2 enchiladas of which I ordered beef and I got 1 beef and 1 cheese. The food was very subpar as was the service. We went at 5pm, and were the only customers there, and the girl only came once to see if we needed anything, then she acted like it was a bother to her because she got our order wrong..... Granted, there are not many food options in Allendale SC, but for your own good, just...
