Went to eat dinner. Got there at 4:15pm and it says open at 4pm. BUT Nobody working yet. We waited a few minutes and they sat us after a little bit. The 1 older guy (manager) was annoyed for sure that it was just 2 of us and nobody else was coming in. Finally a chef came to our table. He proceeded to start the typical hibachi show with the oil on the skillet to make a big flame 🔥 the problem is when he went to light the oil on fire his lighter was EMPTY “much like my belly at the end of this situation” anyway, So he ran across the restaurant and into the kitchen to get another lighter BUT he left the oil burning on high and by the time he came back ( 90 seconds later ) it all turned into black char in the middle. Then he proceeded to just put more oil right on top of the burnt up crust in the middle, BUT he did not clean the skillet where it was all burned and that made every bit of our food taste like burnt metal. We brought it to the staffs attention and they said we are sorry he is our newest chef. WE COULD NOT EVEN EAT OUR HIBACHI!! It all tasted burned and the crazy part is they knew it was there Newest Chefs fault. So our plates are full and we said we can’t eat that we will take the bill. And can you believe they still charged us?? After we got the bill I went directly up to the manager and said look they charged us for that burnt food and take a look our plates. They were still full. We are going to have to go somewhere else and eat dinner now. There was literally small black pieces of burnt up oil in Our rice, our veggies, and shrimp. The new chef made our meal and it tasted like burnt metal and he said sorry we take care of you next time. NOW I SEE WHY THEY HAVE A 3 star on Google. Terrible terrible terrible. Disgusting food and no responsibility taken by management. Never ever again will we go there. And I will tell everyone I know to stay away!! 140$ worth of burnt hibachi. They should be ashamed of themselves serving that...
Read moreI have been eating at Kiku since I was a child and we would go to the one in Fort Lee Never in all of my years eating at ANY Hibachi restaurant have I been so dissatisfied. I don’t even know where to begin. There were 4 adults and 4 young children (5-9) in our group. The kids were so excited to go “catch broccoli and use the chopsticks with the rubber band”. Neither of those things happened although I asked twice for both. The chef did not say ONE WORD aside from confirming our order, nor did he engage in any kind of special cookery tricks. Nor did we receive the special sauces until we requested multiple times, and even then, 2 of the people were completely done eating at that point. Not to mention, the onion from the volcano was thrown away instead of chopped with the other veggies, the chicken was so over-cooked the kids would have choked on it if they ate it, and they didn’t give us our change from the $400 is cost us. They assumed we were tipping $70 and never brought us the change from the bill until we asked. It’s the only time that evening that they actually came back with the correct thing. I have never spoken to a Manager about bad service but I actually sought out the manager. He was slightly apologetic, but more so annoyed that he had to be bothered with this, and removed 2 beers from the tab (I really didn’t care at that point I just wanted them to know how awful the entire night was). Needless to say, here I am, writing a novel about horrendous service. I’m sorry to say that I and the others I were with that evening will not be returning. Take your money to Mt. Fuji on the mountain.. …100 times better service, atmosphere,...
Read moreI waited 40 minutes to be seated for our reservation. We also got seated at a table to wait over an hour and half before the chef came to find out the table was not turned on. The manager didn’t seam to care and told us they will try to turn it on. I suggested we get seated at another table that works. He gave me an attitude and sat us at a unclean table with the previous party’s food crumbs everywhere and a uncleaned cook top. We had to let them know it’s disgusting and has to be cleaned before beginning to cook our food. We didn’t get a waiter to ask us for drinks. I complained to the manager again along with multiple other tables tonight saying it’s horrible service. The manager ignored us and told them to give us free soda. I didn’t eat my meal and neither did my wife. I suggest you avoid this place and trying another habachi location because this place was extremely disappointing. The food was not good because the chef was in a rush and put no sauce on the food. The manager was extremely rude and was clearly frustrated because multiple tables were complaining. I have never been to a restaurant where multiple tables are complaining and we had to take turns to complain about the horrible service and bad food. Go to another...
