These people need to learn how to treat their customers if they intend to stay, especially in a small community. You don't BARK at your customers just cause your having a bad day or you want them to hurry up and order even though you're the ONLY person in line!! The young lady who is always there knows how to treat their customers, I'm referring to the 2 different guys who I assume are the owner's sons especially the taller one of the 2, you know who you are! On the other hand the BBQ isn't bad, definitely not award winning by any means but it works cause there isn't anything else around. My only complaint about the food is the BBQ sauce, HEAT IT UP! Ice cold sauce on warm meat doesn't fly! I mentioned this the 2nd time I was there, the owner said "Ya we've had people tell us that so what we started doing is take the bbq sauce out of the fridge every morning so it is room temp by the time the customers arrive, then put it back in the fridge in the evening so people have a choice..." ya buddy that's NOT what your customers are asking and it's a good way to get people sick!! You're there to serve the community, the community isn't there to serve YOU!! Learn that and y'all might actually have...
Read moreLet me start by saying I don't like red meat that much or pork. They hurt my stomach and don't usually taste that great.
Let me continue by saying the following: This place makes meat taste like heaven, tenderly cooked and seasoned to perfection; well worth the stomach ache I have after I eat it. Tums are my best friend after eating the food here lol
The brisket is so juicy- I won't eat brisket from anywhere else The sausage (both kinds) are perfect The pulled pork tastes like thanksgiving and I have no idea why that is, but it takes me back to home in my head! Massey's mess is a genius, meat topped take on Frito pie that my husband loves and I like to look at (I can't eat sour cream and it's too much for me) 😂
The Mac and cheese is creamy, cheesy, and always phenomenal.
The green beans are flavorful, soft, and to die for.
The banana pudding is unlike any other I've ever had, and is just downright cravable! ❤️
This is the #1 place to go for dinner if you're in Alvarado, TX! Super hidden gem that makes this small town feel bigger, brighter, and...
Read moreThis review is based on two visits. First one was from recommendations from a local RV dealer. Ordered the sliced brisket and ribs. Brisket was dry and luke warm, the ribs were okay but not much meat. Pinto beans were bland, not much seasoning. Two $$ is being kind, it was expensive. At least we were greeted when we came in, from behind the counter. Gave a second chance so ordered the same and added a banana pudding. Same results with the brisket but the ribs were worse, so dry and little meat it had the texture of jerky. Beans had a little seasoning this time. Got home to find they forgot the pudding and at $5 a serving you bet I drove back just to see a tiny styrofoam cup and half of it was whipped cream. I got three teaspoons of pudding. It also looked like just three teenagers were running the place that night. That's two chances I gave them and since it had gotten worse there won't be a third. Too bad, Alvarado is short for places to go to for dinner, mostly fast food burgers. Which dishes do I...
