ASIAN SPICY — Restaurant in Amarillo

My husband and I were visiting in Amarillo, and searched the web for Asian cuisine. There are several in this town (surprisingly!) but I came across this one which only had 25 reviews while all others had over 100. What caught my husband’s eye was that this restaurant is family owned, so we decided to try it (plus, it was only 4 miles from the hotel!) We are soooo glad we made the right choice! When you walk in the restaurant, the smell of Asian cooking is wonderful! The floors are tiled and everything had a clean feel, even the bathrooms. I ordered Pad Kee Mow, and my husband ordered beef with broccoli. The food was fresh, authentically seasoned and very delicious!! We were shocked! Pad Kee Mow is made with rice noodles that the owners has to specially order. Don’t think you’ll be able to get the same anywhere else in town. The food was made to order and served hot. You can tell that it wasn’t pre-made and just scooped out of a big buffet pan. We also ordered the spring rolls which were very fresh and plentiful. I met the owner Bo, as well as his sister, and Bo’s wife had just arrived to start the dinner shift. Bo happened to mention that for dessert, he makes his own coconut ice cream and mango ice cream served with fresh mango and sticky rice. I had to try it as I love mango with sticky rice and haven’t had it in years. OMG…it did not disappoint!! The ice cream was not super sweet, and was light, refreshing, and delicious!! My husband and I agree that this food is so good, it’s worth the 9.5 hour drive...

The short version: world class food in an unexpected place, convenient to the interstate.

Walked in and ordered red curry, green curry, and sticky rice with mango, to go. It was ready fairly quickly, and utensils were included without asking. Both curries were incredible, with fantastic flavor, spice and heat that wasn't overwhelming, and really fresh vegetables and basil. The pandan (?) sticky rice with the mango was unexpected, but amazing. On par with the best Thai food I've ever had. It's a shame I was only passing through on an interstate move, or I'd come back...
