Update since originally posting: My card was charged $188.76 TWICE from this merchant. I called my bank chase to have the second charge taken off (the manager at Black Forest claimed it was my BANK’s fault & that she had voided it which isn’t possible that it would still show up). After calling to have the charge taken off, three days later I noticed that Black Forest Cafe has put the duplicate charge BACK on. I called chase AGAIN to have it taken off. They told me the merchant had never originally voided it & that they did charge it again. So two $188.76 charges for bulk chocolates (with the legitimate charge having a $5 tip that I added for the nice young assistant that originally helped me so legitimate charge is $193.76.). Anyways, I told chase to open a claim & stop any future payment from this merchant as I feel it was now out of malice or sheer ignorance in not even knowing how to use their computer system & refusing to fix the problem. I intend to NEVER buy from them again. A claim has been opened & im hoping this review will show as further proof. In total I wasted roughly two hours dealing with Black Forest Cafe to buy some bulk chocolates for my wedding when I should have just bought the same items online directly from the chocolate business but alas I was trying to support a small business (never again). Not exactly what you want two weeks before your wedding. Original post: Rude manager, their P.O. system that the assistants don’t know how to use will charge your card twice & then they’ll blame you for it. Service is overall slow despite not seeming that busy any time I went in. Rude front of the house staff. Overpriced. Only popular as their is very little competition in the area & nearly the only cafe on a main road that travels through wealthy towns. Will not be going here again if only because life is short. Go places where the people are atleast friendly. Nothing worse than going out of your way to support a local business & supremely regretting it. This is why brick & mortar is dying. (Referring to the cafe packaged items that you can buy online for less). Don’t...
Read moreWhat a huge disappointment The Black Forest has officially become. The food used to actually be worth spending money on, but now it's really terrible. We bought two pies that cost almost $50, and had to return them both. The strawberry rhubarb pie had barely any strawberries OR rhubarb, and tasted like it was an old mixture from a can. It had barely any flavor, and was by far the worst strawberry rhubarb pie I've ever had. The man behind the register also argued there was just 1/4 of the pie left when anyone could see with their own eyes there was still an entire 1/2 left. He refused to give me my money back and would only give me store credit for 1/4, as if I would ever want to come back to this place. I used to also love the tuna wraps there, but when I bought some a couple months ago, they were lacking everything I used to love about them. Their flavor was bland as well, and tasted like they were made with cheap ingredients. It's obvious The Black Forest now cares more about cutting corners and making money, rather than putting any love in their food. It's really sad to see a restaurant I once loved so much, go so far downhill. I live just 5 minutes away, and I'd rather spend my...
Read moreBlack Forest Cafe seems like one of those hipster type places at first, with a small menu on a clipboard and weird water jugs that look like fish and make a funny gurgling sound after they're done putting your water. Don't let this turn you off if you're not the hipster type. BFC is not your average hipster run restaurant. Their menu has something for everyone, including vegan and gluten free options. They have burgers and sandwiches as well, and a few signature cocktails. Their real bread and butter oddly enough isn't the actual homemade bread and butter they bring it to you when you sit down (which is very good by the way), but their desserts. Super rich and will definitely feed two people twice over. Their pricing is a tiny bit on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for here, and you'll be happy you came here instead of the Olive Garden. Despite the menu covering all of the basics, I feel it could be a bit more diverse, but what they do have is very satisfying. If you're looking for a more casual setting than the winery down the road, this is definitely the place to go. Oh also, their rewards program is worth signing up for if you...
