Disappointed on many fronts. On last night, my husband and I went to Island Pizza to order a pizza for take out. However, since their outside dining area was open, we decided to eat there. We were seated and sat there for three minutes without anyone coming over to our table or acknowledging us. A few others were seated after us and we observed that they had a server come to their table shortly after they were seated. Finally, my husband called out to another server, asking if someone was going to come over to us. She said, "Sure, I'll get someone." Honestly, another two minutes went by before a server came to our table and just said, "Hi, you want to place an order?" I said yes, placed the order and then asked her name, which she provided, apologizing for not telling us that earlier. She brought our beverages and left. We waited a good while for our pizza, brought to us by another young man, who said, I'll be back with plates and we asked for napkins too. He took a couple of minutes before returning with plates but without napkins. And, then said, I'll be back with napkins.
We ordered the Islander Pizza on thin crust without the extra cheese. The pizza was flavorful but disappointing in that the weight of the toppings on the thin crust made it impossible to lift a slice up to eat without most of the toppings falling off on the plate. It was evident that we would need a fork and a knife. At this time, my husband needed a refill on his beverage as well. No sight of our server, so we asked another server if she would tell our waitress that we needed a beverage refill and utensils. She said sure. No one came to our table for another 2-3 minutes. Finally, our server returned with a refill drink and we then told her that we needed utensils and she returned with those shortly..
Disappointments: (1) Pizza, if toppings will weigh down the pizza to that extent, consider putting on less toppings or consider only offering it as a Sicilian pizza. We were offered either crust and chose the thin crust, not wanting to have all of the bread in Sicilian pizza. But, we are not the cooks. So, if the management knows that those toppings will impact the pizza like that, make the adjustment. (2) The service was lousy from start to finish.
Results: We have ordered pizza from there before the Pandemic and picked it up and overall, were pleased. After this experience, it will be a long time before we would order any pizza from this establishment, if at all. We definitely will never be returning there to dine in or outside.
Advice: If Island Pizza management cares, please make the necessary adjustments as to not lose more...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to give Island Pizza a try after driving past it many times. Shoulda kept on driving! Host was friendly and professional, but our waitress arrived rude and clearly unhappy she was sat another table when it was not busy at all. After being carded for drinks, we waited at least 5 minutes before a different woman arrived and rudely yelled for our IDs again, and we complied without comment. After waiting yet again even longer for drinks we realized the second lady walked off with our IDs, so I had to go looking for her to get our property back. I am 29 and my friend is 24, we both have legal, valid non-expired photo drivers licenses. After such unfounded hostility before we even got a food order in let alone drinks on the table, we walked out before it got any more bizarre. I am an 11 year bartender that has worked both in PA and LA, so I usually tip extremely generously as well. I’m very understanding and patient, having worked in restaurants the majority of my life. No exaggeration when I say this was the most incompetent and pathetic experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Hoped it was an isolated incident but after speaking with friends they too have had similarly bad experiences here. Making sure everyone I know in the industry throughout southeast PA avoids this obscure and outdated looking building with miserable wait staff, and I have never once written a negative review. Immediately had an amazing time somewhere else, and I suggest you...
Read moreIt was ok. Wing were way over done. Should have sent them back but don't like sending food back. We saved a few for the waitress to see. The one was so over done it looked like all bone. She said wow and agreed with us and can see they were over cooked. Said she will let the cook know. She came out and apologize and said someone said to give 15 percent off they had a new guy on the grill and he over cooked them and was sorry. So I guess because we had eaten them mostly wasn't much they could do with discount. But probley won't we back. Being she seen 4 of them that were just to hard to eat and or worth eating do you think the rest were any better. Being all we got was wing and ranch fries and my son got mozzarella sticks wasn't much there for us to enjoy for a higher review and they didn't give a better discount to warrant a better review either. But that's just me. The price for the wings were 10 buck for 12 wings they would have been ok size if not over cooked so for the price and amount that was great. Can't go many places for 12 wing for 10 bucks so that was nice and the area was clean and inviting but just can't pass the fact they were ok with serving over...
