Boondocks Emporium — Restaurant in Anamosa

I will start out by saying this places food is phenomenal! Every time I go there I get something new and it’s always good. I do hate that run out of desert almost every time I go there. That is disappointing but I understand. Now for the worst part about this restaurant. The service is ALWAYS horrible. I mean horrible, the waitress always forget something. First time I went there, we had a party of 6. We all ordered drinks and water and one in our party ordered a Diet Pepsi. It took them 30 minutes to bring her her Pepsi, even after she was reminded 3 times. She would go back behind the waitress station and sit there on her phone. Second time we went it was the same thing waitresses checking on the table once in 30 minutes. Then would look to find her. On her phone.. the last and final time I went there or will ever go there. We sat down at 8:15 on a Saturday. We waited 45 minutes and watched multiple servers pass us without saying a word. We were a group of 3. We finally got one to talk to us and she says, kitchen is closed but you guys can go to the bar and order drinks. Bartenders were great and helped us right away put the attitude of the server and the amount of times she passed us and could’ve told us that. Will never go back which is a shame because the food and atmosphere are both great. Hire some new servers...

Food was great. The service was good, when we actually got service. Drinks took WAAAYYYYY too long to get. Parents ordered 2nd drinks, my food arrived about 10 min after ordering 2nd drinks. About 10 min after this, my parents food arrived. My daughters kids cheeseburger with chips arrived 10 min after my parents food, so 20 min after my food! Then came the 2nd drinks half way through our meal. We watched the bartender worry about changing the channel, and talking to other customers casually, and spilling a drink and breaking a separate glass and back to changing the channel before even starting to make the drinks. Our entire meal took 1h n 16 min. Probably will not be back because of this. Shame as the food was pretty good! The fish and chips basket is frozen fish triangle pieces, not...

Boondocks has to be one of me and my husbands favorite date night locations. We did bring the kids with us once and even my picky eater ordered the Kids mac with little smokies and had them hold the little smokies and he ate it ! My favorite thing is the slider trio they have with a pulled pork, burger & tenderloin and I get the Waffle Sweet potatoes fries. If you want to try their maple dipping sauce for the fries my husband is a fan but if you are a homestyle ranch kind a person I highly recommend holding the maple sauce and getting ranch. We typically go there and share the special and then order a few drinks. Great atmosphere and the service is friendly...
