Los Mariachis — Restaurant in Anderson

Folks listen, this place is way overpriced for the quality of the food & portions you get. Ive travelled all over the U.S. for over 25 years & eaten at many Mexican restaurants. This place has to be amongst the worst. im going to give a good example. Go to Grove, OK about 20 mins away from this restaurant. Eat at Rancho Viejo. You will see the food quality is far better & the portion sizes are gigantic compared to this restaurant. For example, Rancho Viejos shrimp chimichanga is huge & has A TON OF HUGE SHRIMP IN IT & the price is nowhere near this restaurants price, much cheaper. It is this way with everything at Los Mariachis. &, anything you order at Los Mariachis has small sides, they EXTREMELY severely skimp on the side items, literally hardly any lettuce, cheese, sour cream, jalapenos etc. I will eat at Los Mariachis often when I work in the area because there isnt much available in Anderson, have been eating there for years, & I always have to ask for more & always show them for example, look, theres only a few shreds of shredded lettuce in here or on here, hardly any cheese, a teaspoon full of sour cream, a few jalapenos etc. & when you ask for more you usually get charged to the extreme. I once took 5 of my coworkers here to eat (first time for all of them eating here) & Los Mariachis skimped so bad on all the sides & toppings everyone was upset & asking for more toppings & sides (& keep in mind my coworkers travel all over the U.S. like I do & love Mexican food like I do, so they know Mexican restaurants & what should & shouldnt be.) Also, in normal Mexican restaurants where the owners or family who owns the restaurant isnt trying to skimp, what is normally included in most Mexican dishes arent here & you have to order it as an extra side & the cost is silly. For example. There is a dish at Los Mariachis where everywhere ive been refried beans is & has always been included, not at Los Mariachis (as the matter of fact this dish Im speaking of was a dish my coworker I took to this place that day I spoke of earlier ordered, he loves it & has eaten it everywhere & its always had refried beans, same for me every time ive had it elsewhere, not here, that happens with a lot of dishes here for many side items that should be included with the meal/dish but arent.) So you will see a lot of that here if youre anywhere familiar with Mexican Restaurants. The problem is when this place gets a decent review its because this is a small country town with not much there, low population, & extreme country folk who dont know much else & get taken for a ride. & a few other things. I am pretty certain most of the people that work here are family. I have over the years seen the workers be extremely rude to customers, not fix an issue & even argue amongst each other in front of customers & children. This place recently built & moved into its new building (old building where they were located is directly across the street.) & guess what, after the new building was built & they moved into it the prices shot up quite a bit (like it wasnt already way over priced for what you were getting & the quality of the food) they dumped their building cost on the customers. I have spoken about quality of food which I will clarify, not only the way its cooked, but they must use a cheap food service provider & provider in bulk (get cheap food for cheap, turn around & sell it 2 you for way more than what its worth & not cook it right etc.) Also as im writing this I am reminded of something that happened in thier old building. I was eating & had a dead cockroach in my food & a cockroach crawl out of the tortilla chip basket. I immediately got the attention of the waitress & signaled her to my table (one I believe to be a family member of the owners) & showed her the cockroach crawling across my table, told her where it came from & out of, & showed her the dead cockroach in my dish & said I did not want 2 pay 4 this meal & was told you will pay. Extremely disappointed in this place. I’ve been coming here since I was just a child, back before they ever moved across the street to their new location- and I am stunned by how downhill they have went. Their service is utterly terrible. Ever since they got their new “computer system” none of them know how to use it, they mess things up, overcharge on certain foods, never keep track of tickets properly, have to ask every customer at the register what they ordered and what table they sat at… Sometimes it takes multiple employees to work the computer. They have also completely given up on offering decent service, they have hired a bunch of younger/highschool kids, and they are incredibly slow and lazy. They will stand around talking and laughing together and ignore you even if you’ve been waiting for a refill for 20 minutes. We recently called in a to-go order before we even got to town, and asked for 3 chorizo tacos, and 1 asada. My husband had to repeat himself on the phone 3 times, and they told us it would be a 20 minute wait. We waited 20 minutes, then went in to pick up our tacos and they hadn’t even STARTED cooking them yet and the girl at the register lied and said they just “hadn’t got to them yet” and then asked multiple times what we had ordered- If the order had been in the computer she wouldn’t have needed to ask.. So we waited another 20 minutes, they brought the food out, and the food was completely wrong even after we CLARIFIED in person what it was supposed to be. We yet again had to send the food back and for them to fix and we requested a partial refund since we had been waiting AT the restaurant for nearly an hour at that point. They told us absolutely no refunds, and the girl at the register said “even the employees don’t get discounts on the food here.”

Super disappointed in this place, I doubt we will be coming back anymore, we had already made excuses for them before when we’d had to wait 40+ minutes just to order even when the restaurant was nearly empty, but this is just ridiculous. They need to get rid of their computer system and their highschool staff, because they have absolutely no idea what they’re...

We visited this restaurant tonight. I'm not a big fan of this place but my family and my brothers family had just got done feeding cattle and we where all pretty hungry and it is convenient. Well my wife asked 3 times for lemon's for her water and I finally asked for them and they finally bring them out. Not a big deal as they where busy however they brought our food out and we had just started eating when my wife asked me what is that. Well it was a cockroach crawling on our table. We informed one server and she disappeared in the back and no one came back. Needless to say we got up immediately to leave. My brother had to walk in the back where the employees were all hiding and told them again that there where cockroaches on our table. One employee said ok I will let them know. Whatever that means. We left and will never go back. I will be calling the health department tomorrow and informing them. One of the biggest reason I have never been a big fan of this place is it's run down appearance. I guess they are going to move soon. I hope not they should be shut down. DO NOT EAT HERE THEY HAVE COCKROACHES!!! The reason they get one start is you have to give it a rating to...
