My wife and I had heard about Anderson Cheese Stop and decided to give it a visit over the weekend. Here are my impressions:
Pros: Very interesting selection and variety of food items. The cheese cabinets are generally well stocked with quality cheeses. Other offerings include wines, jams, juices/ciders, pasta sauces, various crackers, pickled goods, and--at least when we were there--freshly baked items like pumpkin bread. We had a chat with who I presume was the owner, and he was offering selected cheeses for tasting at the bar. This was a nice touch and convinced us to buy a couple of cheeses we hadn't tried before.
It also appears that Anderson Cheese Stop carries products from a place called Fluffy Butt Farms. I tried two kinds of FBF's pickles, and they were delicious.
Anderson Cheese Stop also offers gift cards, which was a nice surprise.
Cons: There really are no cons--just room for expansion of this relatively new business and even more robust offerings. For example, I would have loved to see additional blue cheeses available. Anderson Cheese Stop has a limited variety of pasta--but I would love to see even more varieties available to go with their delicious looking pasta sauces.
Verdict: This relatively new business seems to be a gem-in-the-making in Anderson, MO. I'm excited its there, and I urge anybody to...
Read moreLocated just off the interstate in the small town of Anderson, this new cheese destination has a homey vibe and an impressive selection of goods from the US and abroad. I was there primarily for the cheese, of course, and I was very pleased by their variety. They carried some of America’s best, including Sartori and Milton Creamery. I was excited to find they had a cheese from Wales. There are cheese curds and sausages, too. Cheese tastings were offered at the nearby bar.
The pantry aisles included bread from France, crackers, honey, and a whole shelf of jams and pickles from local Fluffy Butt Farms. The jam maker was there providing samples, too, and they were very good. I had to buy two jars.
There is also a nice alcohol selection. A fridge held cold beer and cider cans as well as single serve wines, while a whole back section of the store has loaded wine racks.
I would be glad to come here when I am next...
Read moreThis is a great store! The staff are always friendly and helpful. The guy running it is passionate about the merchandise they sell, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and fun. The cheeses are not the only thing that is good there, they have wines, international beers and some good ciders (alcohol and non alcohol varieties). Their ice cream is excellent value, and they have some nice wooden boards and arty items. Recommend a visit. They have some...
