Boones Pickins — Restaurant in Andover

Comfort. That is what we needed, and Boones offered us the warmest comfy atmosphere, and our meal was tender, delicious, and satisfying. We were at the end of a long day in the middle of a trying experience, away from our home, staying nearby. We had driven over to try another place, which was closed, and we were working on our plan B when, like little moths to a flame, we were drawn into the warm light from Boones. We walked in with curiosity and an open mind, not knowing a single detail about the place. We slid into the thick wooden booth and within a few seconds we had icy cold drinks and our order was placed. We spent just a few minutes processing our day, and our food arrived. I was on of my way out of Wichita and needed to find somewhere to eat that would have options for my keto diet, figured a bbq place would have enough for me to cobble something together, and I saw that google had a review average of 5 stars for Boones Pickins....that's rather unbelievable, right? But I stopped, and it deserves everyone's five stars. I dithered, but the lady manning the register didn't seem annoyed, I finally asked her opinion between three, she suggested the brisket and wow, first bite was so good, even without sauce. I expected it to take forever, but I bet I was out of there faster than if I'd sat in a fast food drive thru. Also, slaw for me is either hate or love, and this was really good MIGHT actually be my favorite slaw I've had--I'll have to try it again and check. :) Green beans were excellent too. My husband, Heath, and I live in Winfield and when we're craving BBQ, we drive straight here. Their burnt ends are to die for, the brisket and pulled pork is tender and juicy and their ham is just amazing. The ribs are pretty darn good as well. Can't forget about the sides and their jalapeño cornbread either. Cole slaw is perfectly seasoned along with the baked beans. The potato salad is just like my grandma used to make which gives this place another reason to feel like you're at home with family. The staff is delightful, friendly and make ya feel like you're family each time we come in. I can go on and on, but you have to come see and taste...
