I recently visited Somebody's Place in Andover, drawn in by a Facebook post about their malassadas, especially since the owner has Portuguese roots. As someone who appreciates authentic Portuguese pastries, I was excited to find a local spot offering them. I was happy to see the owner himself in the kitchen, which gave me confidence in the authenticity of the food. I ordered a malassada and, despite the $6.50 per malassada price tag, decided to get a dozen for the family, bringing the total to $83.50. They came out hot, which was great, but the owner did mention they had run out of lemons, implying the taste might be a bit different. I was a little disappointed there was no discount for a dozen or for the missing ingredient, but I hoped the taste would make up for it. The service was definitely 5-star – very friendly and attentive. However, the malassada itself was a 2-star experience for me. It was far too dense and lacked the airy texture I expect; I think the recipe could benefit from more yeast. My husband, on the other hand, gave the Boston cream donuts (which my sister bought for $4 each) 4 stars, noting they were fresh and larger than typical donuts. Overall, I'm giving Somebody's Place 3 out of 5 stars. The service was excellent, but the pricing felt high for the malassadas, and the malassada recipe needs some tweaking. I'd be willing to revisit in the future if the malassada recipe is adjusted and perhaps a slight discount is offered for...
Read moreWe stopped here on a whim and it was pretty good. They offer breakfast sandwiches and homemade donuts. The donuts are the size of dinner plates! They’re different in that they have no hole in the middle. It’s basically a huge donut cake. They have a myriad of flavors and they’re fresh and delicious. The egg sandwiches are pretty good. They have two extra large fried eggs and your choice of meat and/or cheese. They offer a few different bread options, but make sure you pick the sweet Portuguese one. It’s really good! There’s dedicated parking out front and maps takes you right to the door. It’s tiny inside, so you may have to wait or take it to go. They close early and get really busy right before closing. Overall,...

Best. Donuts. Ever.
They are (by far!) the most delicious, lightest, fluffiest melt in your mouth, loaded with flavor, huge and just all around most fantastic donuts I’ve ever had in my life!!
In my opinion, no place around here even comes close to their flavor/texture and just overall quality.
If you like donuts, no, even if you think you don’t like donuts, run, don’t walk to this place.. I promise one bite and you’ll be converted into a...
