Ahnala — Restaurant in Arizona

Our other 40th Birthday hotel and casino dinner venue for 20 people was flooded out. So we were pressed for time and planning options when we came upon the Ahnala Mesquite Room at the We-ko-pa hotel. Rebecca was our contact and our liason. She set up a custom menu complete with birthday wishes for the birthday girl directly on the printed menu. Every staff member there was accommodating, friendly, and attentive. The drinks never went empty, the food was served all together, with great timing, and was hot and beautifully plated. Sometimes when you have a large party, you worry about the restaurant pre-heating food or letting it sit too long. Not so, it was hot, fragrant, and delicious. We had no room for wanting more with a big selection of amazing choices and could barely finish dessert. Every member of the staff: waiters, waitresses, and managers came by to say happy birthday and even offered a free drink to the birthday girl. So gracious! Not great for lunch if you're gluten free. Menu shows gf coconut shrimp but the server double checked for me and the chef said it is NOT gluten free. Had lunch here 3 times and twice they brought me regular bread when I ordered gf bread. I always ask the wait staff when the food is brought to the table. I won't eat lunch here again. The breakfast is good and you can get gf toast. Again I would always double check with the staff about the bread. Most of the staff are friendly. The food is good just a little scary for someone with celiac because they are not diligent or knowledgeable about gluten free. If you're not gf this place is probably great and deserves at least 4 stars. Unfortunately I'm celiac so 3 stars it is from me. This is mostly a service complaint - Server immediately had a bad attitude- asked us what we wanted to drink, girlfriend said water then she walked away real quick after without letting me tell her what I wanted. We end up both ordering Cesar salads. Never in my life have I ordered a Cesar salad, or salad in general, and they forgot to toss the salad with the Cesar dressing. One had dressing and the other did not.. this seemed to really inconvenience her to have to go get dressing. No apology or anything. Took about 5-7 minutes to get a tiny little cup of dressing. Also were brought food first before silverware.. I never write reviews I was just flabbergasted to immediately get bad service for no reason.
