If you want a fancy dining experience, keep driving. However, if you want good down-home food with warm, friendly service, be sure to stop in at the Blue Hills Cafe. My wife and I stopped in on our way to Prescott Valley, with my mother-in-law, for breakfast and were not disappointed. Wanda was our server. She is a kind, responsive, and professional server. When my wife mentioned she has a gluten allergy, she offer a gluten-free English muffin, and stated that they would toast it on the flat-top instead of the toaster because of cross-contamination. This, of course, put my wife at ease, knowing they understood food safety as it relates to allergens. I ordered their chicken fried steak with hash browns, two eggs, and a biscuit with sausage gravy. I couldn't finish it all in one sitting. The steak was delicious! They cooked the hash browns to perfection, and they were not greasy. On our next trip to Prescott Valley, I'll order this again and start with the biscuit for sure. Their biscuits are the lightest and moistest biscuits I ever tasted. They are not the typical bone dry biscuits that need gravy in order to choke them down. When we return, I'll ask if I can order a half dozen to take back to Phoenix. This was our first occasion to eat at Blue Hills for breakfast. I have two recommendations. The first recommendation I could make for their menu would be to offer more in the way of southwest options to spice things up a bit, like chorizo, fresh spicy salsa, chili Colorado, besides your Ortega green chili (which I assume is out of a can). The second would be, offer quality steel-cut oats for your oatmeal instead of the quick instant oats that are slimy. My mother-in-law ordered your oatmeal. This, of course, is a business decision based on demand. Everything else on your menu represents a level of excellence. Your oatmeal should too. But again, this would be based on the demand for oatmeal, as making steal-cut oatmeal takes time (unless you make it overnight in a crock-pot). Steel-cut oats are rich and hearty, especially when you top them with fresh fruits and nuts. You can also increase the price point and the profit margin is crazy good as well for offering an elevated “gourmet” version, since steel-cut oats are very inexpensive and yield a lot of oatmeal per volume of raw oats. One thing patrons may notice is the steady stream of traffic in this restaurant. Good food and great service are why. While there, we noticed no staff just standing around. Everyone served the customers professionally and with a smile. We look forward to trying the lunch/dinner menu options on our next visit. Job well done!

My husband and I were on a road trip when I looked up good food and found this one. The ratings were already 4.6 stars, so we thought we'd stop in. Cute little dinner, they had a board with specials "March burger of the month". Even though they had lots to choose from on the menu, I decided to try this. It was seat yourself, and the waitress came right over. She took our drink order, attended to other patrons , came right back to us with our drinks, and then took our food order. I know this is a lot of normal detail, but most places are not this well organized. It usually takes a bit for the waitress to come back, and I was impressed right away! The food came out shortly after, too! I thought that it might just be because it was the "burger of the month," but I noticed another couple had sat down about 5 minutes after us, and their food was quick to arrive also. The plate was big, the burger was big with a lot of frys (hot and crisp!) The meat patty was a bit thin and I like mine on the thicker side with a normal burger, however, with the layers of corned beef, sourkraut and Cole slaw, it was a perfect blend of everything!! To top it off, the bill was half the amount we spent the morning before on breakfast for the two of us!! I will definitely return and tell all my friends!! Well done!!

Come for the food and stay for the service. I was on a road trip from Chino Valley back to Phoenix and I used Google Maps to find a restaurant along my route. The restaurant itself is unassuming with seating from booths to a diner style bar seating and open tables. As you walk in you'll find a sign that says to Please Seat Yourself. The staff says greets you quickly and offers you a drink from a variety of Pepsi products. I was pleasantly surprised they also carry Cream Soda which is not something I find very frequently in my travels. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken which came with a house salad, mashed potatoes and green beans. The chicken was good, well seasoned and not greasy. The other food was good but nothing impressive. What stood out to me from this experience was the service. There was a sense that this is more than a restaurant, it felt like this place was special because it serves as a pillar to this community. It's got all the charms of a small town Arizona diner. The prices were reasonable and the portions were good. Check it out!

There’s something timeless about stepping into Blue Hills Café. Nestled in the quiet charm of Dewey, this café brings you right back to the heart of an old-fashioned diner, where the coffee is hot, the food is satisfying, and the people are genuinely happy to see you.

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth. The servers here are truly special, sweet, quick, and attentive in a way that feels effortless. They strike that perfect balance between efficiency and care, making sure you have everything you need while still giving you the space to relax and enjoy your meal. Their smiles and thoughtful service elevate the entire dining experience.

The food itself is exactly what you want it to be, and then some. Every dish tastes homemade, hearty, and full of flavor, like it was cooked with both tradition and love. Whether you’re craving a classic breakfast, a sandwich piled high, or comfort food that feels like it came straight from Grandma’s kitchen, Blue Hills Café delivers.

But what sets this place apart isn’t just the food, it’s the atmosphere. There’s a calm, caring energy that makes you want to slow down and savor not just your meal, but the moment itself. It feels like a gathering place where community and comfort meet, and where every guest is treated like family.

Blue Hills Café is more than just a stop for good food, it’s a reminder of why local diners matter. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again, not just for the meals, but for the experience of being welcomed, cared for, and reminded that simple joys are...
