Rock Springs Café is a historic restaurant in Black Canyon City, Arizona, that has been serving homestyle cooking since 1918. It is known for its delicious pies, made from scratch using fresh ingredients. The café also has a wide variety of other dishes on the menu, including steaks, chicken, and sandwiches.
The restaurant is located in a charming old building with a rustic charm. There are two dining rooms, one with a fireplace and one with a view of the mountains. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the service is always excellent.
I've driven by Rock Springs Café many times before, but I never stopped. I always regret it, because the food is always delicious and the atmosphere is so welcoming. I finally decided to stop in one day, and I was not disappointed. I started with a slice of the pecan pie, which was absolutely amazing. The crust was flaky and buttery, and the filling was rich and flavorful. For my main course, I had the chicken fried steak, which was cooked perfectly and served with mashed potatoes and gravy. The vegetables were also fresh and delicious.
Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Rock Springs Café. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the atmosphere was charming. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a historic setting. I would definitely give it a 9 out of 10.

I would definitely recommend visiting Rock Springs Café during the farmers market. The farmers market is held every Saturday from 8am to 12pm, and it is a great place to find fresh produce, locally made crafts, and other unique items. The café also has a booth at the farmers market, where you can buy pies and other pastries.
I'm so glad that I finally stopped at Rock Springs Café. It is a hidden gem in Arizona, and I'm sure I'll be back many times in the future.

Read moreService stars & overall rating what they are ONLY because our waitress Kandace was awesome. 🙂🙂❤️ Hostess def was not. First time there, we'd heard it was a really good place so went there for brekkie to celebrate a bday. Several sets of people stood at the hostess stand for about 20 mins before she finally showed up, apologizing stating she was in the restroom (tmi, ew). She was def not the brightest bulb in the box. She then promptly told us all that we couldn't get brekkie, only lunch-- everyone that had been waiting was there for brekkie, and we were all there in time for it. She told us this, and it was 10 mins before the closing time for brekkie. She refused to get us a manager, as we were all upset and had all been there with plenty of time to get it (with 10 mins to go at the time she finally came out and told us no) which was not our fault. 😠😠😠 Since it was quite a drive to get there and we were hungries, we decided to just stay and try lunch. The food was ok, but everything had too many spices in/ on them (which wasn't listed, so I couldn't eat most my food). 🤬 I got the brisket plate-- it was dry and had a thick layer of black pepper and spices crust on it. 🤢 Their 3 bbq sauces weren't very good either, too spiced, didn't really taste like bbq sauces. 😵💫 It came with 'slaw' (which was the only thing I COULD eat out of all of it), beans (which were just like, pork & beans like we ate ás kids), and cornbread that had chunks of corn and jalapeño (again, not listed) so I was unable to eat that as well.😠 My friend got the meatloaf sammie, which was a giant fat piece of meatloaf, that was tender and fully cooked. The downside he had was that it was overloaded with spices (a weird combo of them), so that's all you could taste.🤢🤢 He had a slice of peach crumble pie, which looked rather sad--especially considering all the praise you hear about their pies, so we'd been excited to try it.😵💫😢 (Just a slice was like $9, and sorry not sorry but no pie is gonna be tasty enough to spend $30 on!!) 😱 The crumble was undercooked, and the pie was thin and pretty tasteless-- frozen pies are way better-- and cheaper lol!! 😁😂
I will say that their iced tea is bomb tho!! 😁🤤 it was the tastiest thing I had while there lol 😆
It was a little pricey, especially seeing as i couldn't eat any of the food. So ya, safe to say I will NOT be going back to the restaurant.
The little market store was nice. I got some ginormous beef steak tomatoes (they were soooo good!!) And some amaaaazing white peaches-- they were so delicious I went through them in no time lol!! Going back up in a couple days just to get some...
Read moreWhile venturing up to Sedona to see the Red Rocks, we wanted a snack, so the Fat Man and his wife took a chance and pulled off the interstate at Rock Springs Café in Black Canyon City, Arizona. Rock Springs is a homestyle café with steak, chicken & calf fries’ and is known for homemade pies in a variety of flavors.
We ordered the Bradshaw Nachos, which are made with beef, tortilla chips, baked cheese, onions, tomato, green chili, jalapeno, black beans, salsa, and sour cream. The meat had good seasoning and a fair amount of heat on the back end. The chips were restaurant-style but thick enough to hold them in the toppings. The green chilis have a soft heat and good flavor, while the baked cheese is creamy and allows the entire dish to melt together. The jalapenos are pickled with excellent heat, and the mild salsa is chunky and homemade. Sour cream offers that needed cooling from the heat of the dish. These were some of the best nachos we have had in a long time.
I decided that I would give their chili a whirl. The Cowboy Camp Chili comes with a mini cornbread loaf. The cornbread is more cake-like, with a slight sweetness and bits of corn and green chilies in the loaf. It had a good flavor, and it was moist. The chili was very meaty and also packed with beans. The heat was low, mainly at the back end. The flavor was all right, but they did not drain the fat off the meat, which adds a heavy, fatty aftertaste and leaves a little film on the tongue. The green chilis offered a bell pepper-like texture and a little chili flavor. The beans provide some texture and a little crunch. The dish needed some salt. Adding the raw white onions also added a nice crunchy texture.
Rock Springs serves breakfast; some things are served all day, such as lunch and dinner. They have an extensive menu offering lots to choose from. They have appetizers, sandwiches, soups, salads, and entrees. They also offer whole pies or by the slice. The Fat Man says that Rock Springs Café is Fat Man Approved...
