I am giving this place a one star review because there is no lower score available. We decided to check this place out based on the reviews. It looked good and we were looking forward to a good breakfast and to evaluate it as a possible new favorite to take future guests. We walked in and as the server was about to seat us the man behind the register, (he seemed to be the manager,) he stopped the server and wanted her to bring something from the kitchen for another customer who had just walked up. The server asked if she could seat us first and the manager had to think about it for a few moments before he gave her permission. We were seated and given menus, that was the extent of our interaction with restaurant staff. At least three different servers walked past our table several times, including the lady who seated us. All of them looked me right in the eye, none of them asked if we had been helped, no one so much as offered us a glass of water. We sat there for over fifteen minutes and were completely ignored. All the tables around us were well taken care of, but it seemed that the people at the other tables were regulars. The restaurant was not overly busy, it looked like a nice place and the food at the other tables looked good, we were looking forward to trying it, and if we found that it was good we would've been happy to become regular customers. With no one willing to acknowledge our presence we had no choice but to get up and leave. On our way out the manager gave a half-hearted "I'm sorry." Maybe he was, but I doubt it. The impression that we got was that if the staff didn't know you then they don't want your business. Thanks a lot Division Street for ruining...
Read moreThe food was perfect. It has a pretty standard menu you might find at any New Orleans inspired eatery. However, the way they do it translates to the plate very well. The crawfish were LARGE and I loved their turbo seasoning. Their margaritas were spot on and I'm a picky former bartender. In fact lived in The Big Easy for 5 years. So, I have had my fair share of Cajun and Creole food. I also hail from the great state of Texas. So, I've inevitably drank my fair share of margaritas. Lastly the staff was perfect, too. Our waitress was everything you would want and very helpful. The management was not only hospitable, but embraced our party of 8 on a Saturday as we took a break from Lake Ray Hubbard. We were a little to loud, but they never told us. In fact they were a little encouraging of our behavior. I am a male, but I did flash my breasts at the balconies strung with beads just to elicit more robust laughter from the table. We were rolling. A few minutes later the manager brought me some beads. Too funny! This place is almost an hour from our home, but I can honestly say without hesitation that we will make the drive to share an hour or 2 here again. One of the best all around experiences in a long while. Kudos for getting...
Read moreI had a very unusual experience at this cafe or restaurant.
My friend and I came in for coffee. We got carried away in our conversation, lost track of time, and wound up talking for an hour. At some point the waitress asked if we were gong to order the Brunch buffet and we said no, but we could tell she wanted us to leave, so we asked for our check. The check said we owed $14.95 for each of us for the buffet. Plus our coffee.
Bottom line, they were rude, insisting that the sign on the front said Sunday Brunch Only. So we should have known we had to order the brunch if we came in or else psy for it anyway. The sign did not include “Only”. What if it had? That wouldn’t have told us anything
They could very well have explained to us to either leave (we certainly would have understood because we had stayed a long time ) or order the brunch.
We were bullied by the manager, the waitress and checkout. We wound up paying $30 for food we never got to eat.
So you might ask what are their rules for you to come in and take a table before you order anything on a Sunday.. I would ask on the other days as well. Who knows how they’ll try to scam you on...
