Mijke is an excellent local baker to purchase bread from! You have to be willing to be flexible with the selection and plan a little in advance since orders are only Wed/Thurs/Fri and must be made 2 days ahead. The menu for each of the 3 days is different so you may have to come by twice in a week if you want items from the various days. The pickup is convenient however (online order/pay and just pick up from a little barn in the back of the property)! There is also a nice email list where you can read updates on the newest recipes and creation attempts.

All of the breads I have tried have been delicious but especially the 'spelt kamut multigrain sesame' which is amazing. I also love the whole what sourdough since it's nearly impossible to find an actual real sourdough that is whole wheat (multi-day fermentation instead of simply adding lactic acid). Be aware that the 100% rye is quite dense and strong in flavor but it's great if you like those 'German-style' health loaves that you sometimes see in health food stores.

Arvada Bread Barn has officially become my go to bread source. I have tried several in the area and they are at the top! The bread is simply incredible - fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you crave from a good bakery. I tried a loaf and it disappeared way too fast! They also have amazing soft pretzels that are the perfect salty snack. Plus the focaccia is utterly to die for. Hands down, all of the products are amazing and thoughtfully and carefully crafted with love.

Our family has had the amazing pleasure of indulging in Mijke’s delicious bread for the past few years! It is honestly one of the highest quality breads we have ever had.

I just recently tried her 100% spelt sourdough bread bc I am recently gluten free, and her loaf did not disappoint! It was moist with the perfect amount of crunch and it tasted like I was eating non-gluten free bread! The quality of the ingredients is evident in the taste and the love that she pours into her baking shows when you interact with her.
