Papi's Cocina & Cantina — Restaurant in Ash Grove

Guacamole: was lacking flavor, too creamy for my liking (personal preference) small was $5 and not worth it. Salsa: couldn't tell if this was made fresh or from a jar which was frustrating. Reminded us of original Pace. That was very disappointing. Barria: very greasy, lacked flavor, too much cilantro, beef was very tender, dipping sauce/juice was also lacking flavor and greasy. Not like the typical Barrias we've had. Wouldn't buy again Papi Arroz: would buy this again, rice seemed a little over cooked for my liking, would have preferred a little more cheese sauce, overall it still lacked flavor. The only flavors that popped out was when I'd eat a pepper or onion. Chicken and beef was tender.

I would come back in a a few months as they work out more kinks since they just opened. That's just normal and I don't have an issue with that. Please work on seasoning and bringing flavors to your dishes because then it'd be perfect.

Waitresses were nice, definitely seemed new to waitressing (no biggie we all start somewhere) and had two always stopping by to check on us. Did seem like they were always in a rush every time even though they were not busy when we went. What was interesting, as a brand new restaurant, they didn't put forth any effort in trying to "sell" items or hype the food up. That was just kinda odd to me considering a lot of other restaurants do that.

Atmosphere: super cute and...

Myself and 4 other co-workers came in for lunch today. We started with salsa and guacamole which both items were fantastic. Then the 5 of us proceeded to order our lunch entree’s. I got steak fajita’s as I love fajita’s and would like to try some one else take on them. I Waited 15 or 20 minutes on fresh food which I never mind to wait for fresh food. When the food arrived it all looked great expect the tortillas for my fajita’s were missing, so I politely asked the server for a few and was told I would be brought some out.7 minutes later I had not received any yet but didn’t want to fuss due to the busy point in the afternoon lunch rush so I went up when they slowed up and asked a server politely once again for them. She once again said she would bring them right out. About 12 minutes later 18-20 minutes after food arrived the server that was serving the other side finally noticed I hadn’t touched my fajitas and said something to our server for the 3rd time about it and received my toritillas 20-22 minutes after I had received my food on an hour long lunch break. I wanted to like this so much, it would be nice to have a local joint! However, the seafood nachos were just not great at all- the crab was burnt and so dry and there were two shrimp on the entire plate. None of my family liked their meals unfortunately, but I would rate it a 6.5/10 and would return to try other things just based on the food. However, the worst part was the service. I was so confused why it was happening at all, as our waitress asked both tables around us how they liked their food and other details, but we couldn't seem to grab her attention. I had one beer, was never offered another or able to ask for a water or anything else. My family didn't get any refills, more salsa, extra napkins etc. I think the experience could have made the meal more enjoyable overall.
