I had an unfortunate interaction with the owner today over food quality and service. I had picked up a large order of sandwiches for my family and some workers we had hired. I got home to feed every body and I was so disappointed. They didn’t include any sauce. I checked the sandwiches: there was a half inch of dry pulled pork on cheap grocery store buns, and an extremely tiny portion of coleslaw for the sandwiches. With tax, these very small sandwiches cost $7 each. I had spent $80 on sandwiches nobody wanted to eat and there was no way I could get back to the restaurant before closing, either for sauce or a refund. I love bbq, and I have so much sympathy for restaurants, having worked in them for a few years. I hoped that if I called, the owner would be of some help. From the moment I began to describe the problem, he had an attitude. He told me I had left with a lot of product and told me that when I was there I mentioned getting food for the guys at the job site. He had a snide, mocking tone when I said my family and everyone wouldn’t eat the sandwiches, which were dry, now cold, and had no sauce. He said “your family?! I thought you bought them for some construction workers!” His tone was like he had caught me in a lie. It was so insulting.and it implied that construction workers shouldn’t be picky. He offered a partial refund, which I was not completely satisfied with, but I said that would be ok. He didn’t understand why nobody wanted the sandwiches, and started a lecture about his food quality. I disagreed about the quality politely, and asked him, in an even tone, how much of a partial refund he was offering. The owner immediately snapped, which shocked me because he had offered a partial refund. It wasn’t even my idea! He told me all I would get is 10% off my next order. I told him there would not be a next time, and ended the call. I would have accepted so many solutions. I could have brought the food back once they re-opened. I would have taken half a refund and not complained. But the way he spoke was so condescending, as if I were trying to get one over on him. And he went back on what he said. I have included photos of the food, which I measured with a tape measure so everyone can see what $7 gets you at Shorties. Please, drive the ten extra minutes to Bear BBQ. The food is better, portions match the price, and the owner won’t mock you for buying their food. A ruined meal and a lesson learned. At Shorties, $7 gets you a half inch tall ramekin of slaw, a half inch of dry unevenly roasted meat on a 3.5 inch dollar store hamburger bun, and enough attitude from the owner to fuel a drag show downtown. Bon appetit!

My boyfriend and I saw this place on the way home and thought- yay! A small business barbecue joint. We saw almost a five star review when looking for the menus and were excited to get some barbecue. We pulled up and the place is so cute. The ppl inside were amazing. So friendly and kind. We ordered barbecue brisket for 2 and paid over 40 bucks for that and three sides. The sides looked small but we’re also of disappointing quality. The mashed potatoes have got to be instant. The were so thin and soupy. The brown gravy was also watered down. So mashed potatoes and gravy were inedible. The Mac and cheese was simply embarrassing. There was virtually no cheese sauce, we were basically provided with yellow noodles. Did not eat. The brisket and cornbread were so dry it was shocking. The baked beans were dope! I left 1 star because the staff was amazing and the baked beans were good. At the end of my meal I felt like I was swindled out of almost 50 bucks.

First time here, and one of the servers was kinda arguing with his wife, which made looking at the menu awkward. The lady at the window was nice. I got a brisket sandwich with a side of okra. The brisket was overcooked, and the okra was undercooked. The food wasn't terrible, but the overall experience was weird. As I was leaving, the same guy was meeting a guy on the side of the building. Just shady.

I had thier pulled pork and brisket which was absolutely awesome. Meat was very juicy tender and had great flavor. Even though they don't offer a selection of sauces, which was kinda surprising, the sauce they do have is a very good sauce. it's what im assuming to be tomato based sauce but had a perfect level of vinegarness to it and came in sizable side containers, I ordered 5 sides of sauces expecting them to come in wimpy little containers but only needed 3 to sauce up my pork and brisket. The fries and potato salad were perfect but honestly the Mac and cheese kinda sucked which was a let down seeing how everything else was so great and I'm an avid lover of Mac and cheese. Thier Mac and cheese was bland, they add corn and peppers but the peppers kind of beat out all the other flavor and there was no where close to enough cheese in it. All together minus the mac and cheese everything was great and the price was alot lower than you'd expect from the quality of...
