Big Mike's — Restaurant in Ashford

Had a great time dining there. The waitress was very attentive. We went about 430, beat the dinner rush so it was very quiet and was able to enjoy ourselves without wild ,feral children running amok. One more point about the waitress, I am sorry I have forgotten her name, but she was aces. As it is a seafood restaurant (among other items) their a tad pricey on some of their items. Dont let that dissuade you. Ive seen other reviews about this place, and some seemed like they probably aren't satisfied anywhere they go. Take the other reviews that are negative with a grain of salt. Look at their other reviews and you'll see a pattern. Entitled, and unable to please is the way they seem to walk. Big Mike's is a small , quaint mom and pops establishment. Not every restaurant will be perfect every time. I really wish I could remember our waitress name. She really was awesome. If you want their seafood buffet, go their after 5. I had a great time, great food and service was excellent. I will definitely be going back...

December 15, 2023, I went here for the seafood buffet. We had reserved the party room. Once the female hostess approached the room she says here’s it and uses the phrase FOR YOU FOLKS at that point I didn’t want to eat here bc I felt like that was a racial slur but went on and ate bc it was my sister’s bday dinner. Later, she brings the menus out and sits them on a table where no one is sitting instead of bringing them directly to us. Never asked was we ordering off the menu or eating buffet. Did ask what we were drinking and never asked did we need a refill until we were getting ready to leave. I had to wait for clean plates and if they had plates clean then there were times we had to wait for food to be put out. Very disappointed bc the first time we went in October male host was so nice and cool but the female hostess just gave me vibes of being racist and prejudice the whole time. I will not be going back here, I don’t care if someone else offers to pay...

You people know I do not give many 5 stars reviews.This is not the fanciest place, very local (which i love )good food people know each other if this gets out you have to wait for hours the the food is good and plentiful.The staff is super friendly . I have seen some mixed reviews, but this place is doing all they can to reduce waste and get you full .i did not get picture of the burger. wife doesn't do fried foods she's a burger champion it's on her top 5. i have been several times usually for shrimp,catfish, and crableggs, but them Damm mussels and shrimp was Damm good, just the right heat.cole slaw good, crawfish good,stuffed crab good cheese grits good, banana pudding is good ( not like mama, sorry). Wish I had taken more pics . I did not get crableggs this visit, but they have been cooked...
